RnB Singer B. Smyth Passed Away at 28 Due to Respiratory Failure From Years-Long Illness

According to the Florida-born singer’s brother, the late artist ‘was very excited’ to see people ‘create challenges’ for ‘Twerkoholic Pt. 2’, a follow-up to his 2014 hit ‘Twerkoholic’, ‘while he was in the ICU.’

AceShowbiz –B. Smyth has sadly passed away. The RnB singer, who’s known for his hit “Twerkoholic”, died after suffering respiratory failure that’s caused by his years-long illness. He was only 28 years old.

Announcing the sad news was the Florida native’s brother Denzil Smith. In a video posted on the crooner’s official Instagram page on Thursday, November 17, Denzil revealed, “Today regretfully I have to announce that my brother has passed away this morning from respiratory failure after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis.”

“My brother was very excited to see a lot of you create challenges for his latest released single #Twerkoholic part 2 while he was in the ICU, it really brought him a big smile to his face,” Denzil added. “So on behalf of my brother and my family we want to say thank you to all of you for all of your love & support throughout the years.”

Denzil further noted that he and his family “ask for privacy during these difficult times.” The sibling of the late singer, born Brandon Smith, concluded the post as saying, “We also want to say thank you for all of your prayers. #RIPBSMYTH Love you bro!”

B. Smyth made his musical debut in 2012 when he signed to Motown Records and released the 2 Chainz-assisted “Leggo”. He followed it up with the Future-assisted “Win Win” the following year, and released his first EP, “The Florida Files”.

In 2014, his single “Twerkoholic” became a hit and it currently sits at over 17 million views on YouTube. As his brother mentioned, B. Smyth recently released its follow-up, “Twerkoholic Pt. 2”. In 2016, B. Smyth signed with ByStorm Entertainment/RCA Records and released the Young Thug-assisted single “Creep”, the Rick Ross-assisted “Gold Wrappers” and more.

His LightSkinKeisha collaboration “Ride Good” peaked at No. 14 on the Hot R&B Songs chart and generated more than 30 million views on YouTube for that track’s music video. This year alone, B. Smyth dropped “On Me”, “Plan B”, “Fall in Love”, “I Love U So” and “Own My Heart”.
