Rylan forced to hit back after fans confuse tweet about people making mistakes in their job
Rylan Clark has been forced to hit back at fans on Twitter who he says "really need to read [his] tweets" after many missed the "irony" in a post about the current government.
The Radio Two presenter, 33, took to the social media site yesterday to tweet: "It’s sad and not nice to laugh and throw insults when people make wrong choices in their jobs. Mistakes happen.
"Just make sure it’s the right person for the job and you’re not hurting people along the way. Especially when playing with peoples lives. This isn’t the sims, it’s real.''
Seemingly, not everyone understood Rylan's humour with some even questioning if the former X-Factor contestant was tweeting his support for Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield following their 'queue-gate' saga – when they were accused of skipping the queue to view the Queen lying-in-State.
Rylan's tweet was sent on a day where there was huge change at number 11 as PM Liz Truss fired her long-term ally Kwasi Kwarteng after just 38 days in office as their mini-Budget collapsed around them.
In hastily assembled reshuffle, Jeremy Hunt was announced as the new Chancellor of The Exchequer on the same day.
But one person still unsure, asked: "Are we talking about Holly and Phil or Liz Truss?"
And because they weren't the only one, the Strictly spin-off It Takes Two host felt compelled to spell out exactly what he meant.
He wrote: "The amount of people that pipe up and decide to make their own assumption of what I just said. LETS PUT IT BLUNTLY SHALL WE…… the people currently in government are ruining the economy and the country. It needs changing. (There you go) bye x."
With everyone now up to speed many of his followers suggested he become the next Prime Minister with one fan teasing: "Sure we can't tempt you to be PM?"
A second chimed in with a X Factor quip: "Wrong choices is picking the wrong person at judges houses, not crashing the economy!!"
A third brought things back to politics, posting: "I think when your mistake is ‘deliberately risking tipping thousands into homelessness just to make loads of money for your mates’ then you’re allowed to laugh a bit when it blows up."
A fourth added: "I’m beginning to think just like most jobs out there, a probation period for PM from this point on."
Rylan continued his political commentary, telling fans the government had ruined his gyros.
He said: "Watching the news and genuinely the decisions being made by this government it’s ruining my gyros. Surely it’s time for a reset and an election. Let the people decide."
