Sam Thompson praises girlfriend Zara McDermott over work with Princess Kate
Former Love Island star Zara McDermott has been working with The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, on the Shaping Us campaign – which aims to highlight the importance of early years development.
And while the 26 year old has previously said she's "honoured" to be working with Kate on this initiative, her boyfriend Sam Thompson is also proud of the work Zara is doing and her documentaries and told OK! it's "quite something to look up to."
Sam, 30, who is working with De’Longhi on their Cold Brew Confessions Campaign, told us of Zara's work with Kate: "I sometimes have to be like – 'Who's Kate?' and she's [Zara is] like, 'Kate Middleton.' 'Oh, the Princess!'
"When you're on a first name basis with them it sometimes throws me. The great thing about what Zara is doing, is she believes so wholeheartedly on all the stuff she's doing.
"And it really shines through and I think that's why she does all the stuff with the Princess, because you can see how much Zara cares about all these documentaries she's filming. Most of these documentaries are her ideas."
Zara has released a series of BBC documentaries investigating important issues, such as disordered eating, rape culture and revenge porn.
Sam added: "She's like, 'I want to do something about this,' and they'll follow that through. Like she does things she actually cares about and loves making a difference. For a boyfriend who does TikTok dances, it's quite something to look up to."
Sam and Zara, who have been dating for four years, are quite the couple goals. And Sam can't help but gush about his girlfriend in our interview.
"Ah mate, it's unreal," he said when we point out they seem happy. "I'm very chuffed. She went to Cannes last week and I was like, 'Bloody hell, that's my Mrs!' It's almost funny. You're almost like, 'Wow, how did I get so lucky?'"
The couple recently attended the second wedding of Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo in Spain, joining a host of other Made In Chelsea star guests such as Millie Mackintosh and Spencer Matthews.
"It was unreal," Sam said exclusively of the occasion. "It was everything you'd expect and more. It was beautiful. Wedding season's normally every summer and you do about three, you forget as the year goes by just how magical they are. Celebrating love is just so lovely."
Sam's latest venture is working with De'Longhi on their Cold Brew Confessions collaboration and explained to OK! the reason he got involved in the campaign.
"As much as I love coffee and a cold brew at that, my girlfriend was literally like, "You'd better not, not work with them," he said. "The machine they sent – the Eletta Explore – is unreal."
So, who makes a better coffee – Sam or Zara?
"I would probably say me, only because I make them for Zara as well. That's kind of my, 'I'm being a good boyfriend 101!'"
