When speaking to Rolling Stone magazine, the ‘Only Murders in the Building says that her ‘only friend in the industry really is Taylor [Swift], so I remember feeling like I didn’t belong.’
AceShowbiz –Selena Gomez has reacted to Francia Raisa unfollowing her on Instagram after she said Taylor Swift is “only” her friend in the industry. The “Only Murders in the Building” star gave her response underneath a TikTok video of someone explaining the drama.
“Sorry I didn’t mention every person I know,” Selena simply commented. While many people blamed her for not giving Francia a credit, some people came to her defense. One person in particular penned, “I thought it was very obvious that she meant the music industry.” Another wrote, “I don’t think she misspoke, I think what she said is being taken out of context.”
When speaking to Rolling Stone magazine, Selena said, “I never fit in with a cool group of girls that were celebrities.” She added, “My only friend in the industry really is Taylor [Swift], so I remember feeling like I didn’t belong.”
“I felt the presence of everyone around me living full lives,” the former girlfriend of Justin Bieber added. “I had this position, and I was really happy, but… was I? Do these materialistic things make me happy? [I realized] I just didn’t like who I was, because I didn’t know who I was.”
The comment did not go unnoticed by Francia and she responded to an article about it by writing, “Interesting.” Eagle-eyed fans also noticed that Francia does not follow Selena on Instagram, though the latter is still on Francia’s follower list.
Selena’s remark came ahead of the release of a new Apple+ film on her life. Taylor showed her support for her friend’s new movie “Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me” on her Instagram Stories, saying alongside a preview clip, “So proud of you @selenagomez. Love you forever.”
As for Francia, she famously donated one of her kidneys to save Selena when she had kidney failure as the side effect of her lupus in the summer of 2017. The “Wizards of Waverly Place” alum made it known how much she appreciated Francia’s kindness by posting a heartfelt note on Instagram, thanking her “sis” for “the ultimate gift and sacrifice.”
