Selena Gomez Wears Chic Black Suit to the Academy Museum
On Saturday night, Selena Gomez arrived at the the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles in a chic and sophisticated black suit. The blazer was styled like a tuxedo jacket, with wide satin lapels. The trousers were flared and draped over her feet, which were in open toe black sandals revealing her white pedicure. Under the jacket she wore a low cut black top.
Her hair was sleekly styled with a strong middle part, and she wore a pair of silver chandelier earring and matching ring. Gomez kept her makeup minimal with a light pink lip and light shimmering eye shadow.
The event was star-studded. Julia Roberts was scheduled to received the first-ever Icon Award. Jacqueline Stewart, head of the Academy Museum, said of Roberts, “Over the course of her expansive and renowned career, Julia has embodied iconic characters and memorable roles. We are thrilled to be honoring her continued excellence in the industry and contribution to the art.”
There were a number of other honorees; Tilda Swinton was presented with the Visionary Award, which goes to “an artist or scholar whose extensive oeuvre has advanced the art of cinema.” The Vantage Award went to director Steve McQueen as “an artist or scholar who has helped to contextualize and challenge dominant narratives around cinema.” This is the Gala’s second year, and in 2021 the event earned $11 million for the new museum, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Also at the event was Hailey Bieber, though she and Gomez did not seem to interact. Hailey recently commented on her connection to Gomez through husband Justin Bieber, who dated Gomez off and on for years before marrying Hailey.
In an interview on Call Her Daddy, Hailey said of that past relationship, “It’s hard for me to talk about this because I don’t want to talk on either one of their behalf, again, because it was their relationship, and I honestly respect that very deeply.”
She added, “I just feel like there’s a little bit of that anxiety of people will probably take it the wrong way or I just don’t want to say something that is being disrespectful or bringing up something that can stir up feelings for someone. I know that we’re just all so moved on from any type of drama, and I’m so happy for that so I get nervous about talking about it because I don’t want to like stir anything up or bring anything up that is going to be like a thing.”
