Sharon Stone says she made $13M less than Michael Douglas for 'Basic Instinct,' plus more news
Sharon Stone talks multi-million dollar pay gap
At the 2023 New York Women in Film & Television’s 43rd annual Muse Awards, Sharon Stone reflected on just how bad the pay gap was in Hollywood when she was just starting out in the early 1990s. Referencing her breakthrough role in 1992’s “Basic Instinct” — in which she played crime novelist and suspected killer Catherine Trammell opposite Michael Douglas’ Detective Nick Curran — Sharon said she only made $500,000, despite her character’s central role in the film. As for her co-star? “Michael Douglas made $14 million,” she said, according to Page Six. “Now, I was new. I was new and he was a very big star.” The actress also recalled how her name never appeared on the now-iconic movie poster. That might explain why one line producer called her “Karen” during the entire shoot (and even at the Governor’s Ball after the Oscars), but Sharon said she still felt humiliated by the experience.
Reflecting on the film’s pay disparity (and backlash) at the Red Sea International Film Festival in December 2022, Sharon pointed out that Michael’s $14 million paycheck meant he “could afford the car, driver, bodyguard” to keep him safe and protect some of his privacy. She didn’t have that luxury. “I had to move because people were on my roof and breaking my door down,” she said at the time. “I couldn’t afford the things I needed because of the sudden fame I had.”

Khloe Kardashian claps back at troll asking if she misses her ‘old face’
No love? No problem. Khloe Kardashian brushed off a few nasty comments from trolls on Wednesday (March 29), after sharing a workout video. The clip featured Khloe — with acute cameo from her daughter, True — admitting she wasn’t “in the mood” to exercise before she declared “let’s get to it” and did just that, running through a slew of sets with weights, on a rowing machine and more. She broke down her routine in the caption, which opened with the words, “We’re Back Baby!”Despite all her positivity, one user wrote in the comments, “Do you miss your old face?” Khloe wasted no time responding with a simple, “No,” a move that garnered plenty of applause and laughter emojis from her fans. When the Hulu star spotted another hater’s comment — “Try without a filter 😂” — Khloe weighed in again. “What does a filter have to do with the workout queen?” she asked. The mother of two was referring to her soon-to-be 5-year-old daughter, True, who popped up in the clip briefly to announce, “Hi, I have a braid in my hair,” and “for two weeks I’m not going to go to school because it’s spring break.”

Sheryl Crow performs at Nashville vigil honoring school shooting victims
Sheryl Crow, who’s lived in the Nashville area for more than 15 years, performed at a candlelight vigil there on Wednesday (March 29), in honor of the victims of the recent mass shooting at The Covenant School. According to reports, Sheryl sat alone at an electric piano, clad in all black, and sang “I Shall Believe,” from 1993’s “Tuesday Night Music Club” album. “Come to me now, and lay your hands on me,” she sang, according to ET. “Say it will be all right, and I shall believe.” As the song came to a close, she added a few bars from “What the World Needs Now (Is Love, Sweet Love),” byDionne Warwick.
Nashville’s music community has been extremely vocal in the wake of the shooting, which left three 9-year-old students and three adults dead after the shooter, a former student, opened fire with an assault-style weapon. “No words… The Covenant School. Our children deserve better,” Sheryl tweeted as news of the shooting made headlines around the world. “Praying for all affected. Tragic America,” she added.
Angela ‘Blac Chyna’ White says she’s ‘done with’ plastic surgery now
After telling fans she had her breast and backside implants removed and her facial fillers dissolved, Angela White — known as Blac Chyna during her tumultuous romance with Rob Kardashian — said she’s finished with plastic surgery for good. “I’m done with it y’all. No more,” she told Tamron Hall on her Thursday (March 30) show (via People). Asked why she had so much work done to begin with, Angela admitted her “insecurities” inspired her to go under the knife. “Being in the industry, you want to have this image of yourself to look perfect. And there’s no such thing as that. There’s no such thing,” said the former reality star, adding that as an exotic dancer from age 18 to 24, she often compared herself to the other dancers and worried her natural looks wouldn’t earn her enough money. “So I felt the pressures of trying to hurry up and build my body when I should’ve just waited until I was older,” she explained. “At 19, 18 years old, your body’s not developed. In my mind set, I wasn’t thinking about that, and nobody was telling me, you know, right from wrong. It was the golden ticket. I was not worried about [the health risks] at all.”
Adam Sandler critiques Jennifer Aniston’s kissing skills
Longtime friends Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler had to work out some smooch kinks for their kissing scenes in both “Murder Mystery” movies, the pair recently told USA Today in a joint interview. While shooting the first film in 2019, Jen asked Adam to soften up his facial hair with beard oil before they had to shoot kisses. But Adam had a more critical request of Jen for the franchise’s second movie. “‘For God’s sake, keep your mouth closed,'” he joked of his kiss requests. “It was so wide! Every time, she’d come with a big, wide mouth, and I’d be like, ‘Whoa-ho-ho-ho-ho, whoa! What are we doing?'” It wasn’t just her mouth that apparently made unpleasant contact with Adam, either. “Jennifer kicked me in the ribs one take,” he said. “All accidents!” she insisted. “Murder Mystery 2” is out Friday (March 31) on Netflix.
Owen Wilson reveals why his lifetime all-access Rolling Stones pass was taken away
For one amazing day, Owen Wilson had his very own, lifetime all-access Rolling Stones pass. And in one “gnarly” moment, it was gone. “The Paint” star revealed what happened in an appearance on “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” telling the host and guest Jeff Goldblum that he got the pass many years after seeing the Stones live in 1980 — his first concert ever. Fast forward a couple decades and he’d become “friendly with some of the band” and his pal was “really good friends with Mick Jagger,” Owen explained on the show on Tuesday (March 28). At some point, Owen and his buddy were given “these special laminates, kind of all access, that were good for the rest of your life,” he said. “That night, at the concert, I’m kind of wandering around and testing it out — like, ‘I’m going to walk over here and see if anybody stops me.’ And no one would stop me any place. I ended up right at this place where I could look over and see Mick Jagger on the stage, and right there and then, all of a sudden, he bolts during ‘Jumpin’ Jack Flash’ and comes running down.” Unfortunately, Owen’s special spot was right in the middle of Mick’s sprint path. “It turns out, where I was, was kind of part of the stage a little bit, so I just sort of froze and tried to be inconspicuous, and he kinda came down and left,” he recalled. “And then someone came running over, [yelling,] ‘Get out of here! Move! You’re not supposed to be here!’ And I [said], ‘I didn’t know! I’m so sorry!'”
Owen said he was “still thinking” about the “gnarly experience” as he went to bed that night. “Then I get a call the next morning from Mick’s security team asking, ‘Do you have that laminate?'” Owen recalled. ‘Yes, I still have it.’ ‘OK, we’re going to come over and pick it up.'” He added that his white T-shirt and white pants made it even more obvious that he’s been standing on a “part of the stage where you’re not supposed to be” at the concert. “So I get it, you know? He’s got a show to do. He doesn’t need some kind of bozo just cruising around distracting him,” he concluded. “I only had it for 24 hours.”
Tory Lanez to appeal Megan Thee Stallion shooting verdict: Report
Megan Thee Stallion’s alleged assailant and former friend, Tory Lanez, will reportedly appeal his conviction for shooting the rapper in 2020. According to People, Tory was convicted on charges of assault with a semiautomatic firearm; carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle; and discharging a firearm with gross negligence from the incident, which sent Megan to the hospital with serious injuries to her foot. Now, ahead of his April 10 sentencing, Tory’s attorney Jose Baez is citing multiple issues that he claims prevented Tory from getting a “fair trial,” including the presentation of a photo of Tory’s chest, which has a firearm tattooed on it, and an interview given by Kelsey Harris, who was in the car with Megan and Tory before Megan got out and Tory allegedly shot her, that included statements Kelsey’s since recanted, per Rolling Stone. “The only acceptable remedy for this miscarriage of justice is a new trial,” Tory’s lawyer said in the appeal, according to the outlet. Fox 11 Los Angeles reports Tory, 30, could face up to 22 years and eight months behind bars.
