Sophie Wessex shares sweet moment with kids at royal engagement with Prince Edward

Sophie Wessex looked as sophisticated as ever on Tuesday as she attended an early learning centre in Scotland alongside Prince Edward.

The Countess of Wessex, who is known as the Countess of Forfar when she travels to Scotland, was photographed smiling as she played with kids in Forfar, Scotland and enjoyed a range of seasonal acitivities.

Sophie, 57, took part in the day’s indoor and outdoor activities and also helped the children make autumn collages and potions.

The Royal was dressed in a Resort 2020 floral blouse, believed to be priced at around £800, which she paired with a MaxMara coat, a brown midi skirt, and knee-high leather boots.

Both Sophie and Prince Edward were then photographed around the town, enjoying the local sites and visiting some shops.

Earlier this week, the Earl of Wessex was named a royal patron for Reading Repertory Theatre.

Edward, 58, visited the theatre, which is also celebrating its 10-year anniversary this year, on Monday and took part in the launch of the theatre’s corporate partnership scheme.

“Reading Rep is rapidly becoming an essential part of the arts scene in Reading for three really good reasons,” he said, according to MailOnline.

He continued: “It is creating pathways to the performing arts for young people, regardless of background; it is introducing new audiences to the performing arts through its outreach and access activities; and it is a space providing an alternative venue for creative any production talents to hone their skills.

“I look forward to helping with reinforcing this theatre's inspiring work in the local community and to supporting its future endeavours.”

Paul Stacey, the artistic director of Reading Rep, said that Prince Edward has shown “ incredible support for arts and culture.”

He explained: “We are excited to work with HRH in forwarding our shared goals and aspirations for art and culture in Reading.”

Edward, who is thirteenth in line for the throne, is also patron to other arts programs like the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain, Northern Ballet, and The Orpheus Centre Trust.

He also worked as a production assistant for the legendary Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, whose genius has brought to life enormous cultural moments like The Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita.

Prince Edward worked behind the scenes, handling paperwork for musicals such as Cats and Starlight Express.

Back in 1987, he even convinced Princess Royal and the Duke and Duchess of York to dress up in medieval garb to perform slapstick humour on a royal version of It’s a Knockout.
