SZA Confirms New Album Title ‘S.O.S.,’ Set For December Release
SZA confirmed in an interview with Billobard last week that her new album, S.O.S. will be out in December.
SZA said she is “currently stressed” about meeting the deadline for the long-awaited follow-up to Ctrl and expressed doubts about continuing her music career long-term.
“I feel like music, in this capacity, I don’t see longevity,” she told Heran Mamo. “I like to create, I like to write, I like to sing, and I like to share. But I don’t know if chasing after superstardom or whatever I’m supposed to be doing right now is sustainable for me or for anybody. I’ma take a good swing at it, and I’ma give ’em my absolute best.”
A release date has not been revealed as yet, but Mamo describes S.O.S. as SZA’s “most daring body of work yet.
“It’s the most captivating music she has ever made, her beloved lo-fi beats sharing space with surf rock within the same track, a grunge record and an acoustic guitar-driven ballad coexisting without either sounding out of place,” Mamo said.
SZA’s latest single was the long-teased “Shirt,” which came with a Lakeith Stanfield-starring video and followed other tracks like “Good Days” and her Doja Cat collaboration “Kiss Me More.”
