Taylor Swift fans left in shock after Jeopardy! contestants fail to recognize lyrics to You Need To Calm Down on the game show

Taylor Swift fans were left shocked when Jeopardy! contestants were unable to recognize the lyrics to her hit song You Need To Calm Down.

The track was used as a clue on the latest episode of the game show but contestants remained silent after host Ken Jennings, 48, recited a portion of the lyrics, off-tune. 

‘I really wish this was Johnny [Gilbert] reading these. This was You Need To Calm Down By Taylor Swift,’ Jennings said.

Contestants were completing the Title That Completes the Rhyme category when the Swift song came up.

Swift fans aired their shock on Twitter after contestants were unable to identify the track.

‘none of the jeopardy contestants got the taylor swift clue shut the whole show down,’ one Twitter user posted.

‘HOW COULD NO ONE KNOW THE ANSWER!?!’ another tweeted in response to video of the segment being posted.

‘NOBODY GOT THE TAYLOR SWIFT QUESTION ON JEOPARDY??? boooooooooo,’ one tweeted.

‘Everyone who makes it on to #Jeopardy clearly has a crown in my book, but I cannot calm down when there is a triple stumper Taylor Swift clue,’ another posted.

You Need To Calm Down was released in 2019 by Taylor and is a part of her Lover album. The track was nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance at the 2020 Grammy Awards.

Taylor landed back in headlines recently after it had been reported at the start of July that she had been engaged to boyfriend Joe Alwyn for a ‘few months.’

The Sun claimed that the singer has been wearing an engagement ring ‘behind closed doors’ and that the couple have only informed their close friends of the news.

However, during a recent outing in London with Joe, Taylor was not seen wearing an engagement ring.

‘They’ve actually been engaged for a few months but have only told their inner-inner circle — basically immediate family, and trusted, very old friends.

‘Everyone has been sworn to secrecy, too.’

The insider alleged that Joe presented Taylor with a ‘beautiful ring’ but ‘she only wears it when she’s at home’, i.e., behind closed doors.

‘Again, only a handful of people know details about the wedding and Taylor hasn’t even told some of her team about the engagement,’ they claimed.

The source also told The Sun that Taylor and Joe ‘want their love to stay away from the cameras as much as possible’ and that their alleged engagement is ‘just for them.

‘And if and when they do exchange vows, there most definitely won’t be any Vogue, Rolling Stone or Hello! magazines there. It will be simple and elegant — like them.’

According to the outlet, there are ‘no specific wedding details’ and it is unknown if the couple will officially announce the alleged engagement.
