Top Gun: Maverick star Jennifer Connelly hits the Oscar red carpet with 19-year-old son Stellan as her blockbuster sequel is up for Best Picture
More than 20 years after her first and only Oscar win, Jennifer Connelly hit the Academy Awards red carpet on Sunday afternoon.
The 52-year-old actress hit the red carpet with her 19-year-old son Stellan, the middle of three children she shares with husband Paul Bettany.
Connelly returned to the Dolby Theatre on Sunday as a presenter for the 95th Oscars ceremony, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.
She is also there to support her Best Picture nominee Top Gun: Maverick, where she plays Penny Benjamin, the love interest for Tom Cruise’s Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell, though it was revealed that Cruise himself will not attend the Oscars.
The actress won her first Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her performance in Best Picture winner A Beautiful Mind.

Connelly stepped out in a stunning and strapless Louis Vuitton gown, with a diamond-encrusted section below her neck.
She had her jet-black hair pulled back in a tight bun while accessorizing with massive diamond rings on each hand.
The sleek and chic black gown fell to the red carpet, obscuring her footwear for the evening.
She hit the red carpet with her middle child Stellan, who was wearing a classic black suit with a white shirt, black coat, black tie, black pants and black shoes.
The mother and son were not joined by Jennifer’s husband Paul Bettany, or their other two children, 25-year-old son Kai and 11-year daughter Agnes.
It isn’t clear what award Connelly will present, though she joined a star-studded presenter lineup including Florence Pugh, Andrew Garfield, Halle Bailey, Antonio Banderas, Elizabeth Banks, Jessica Chastain, John Cho, Hugh Grant, Danai Gurira, Salma Hayek Pinault, Nicole Kidman, Sigourney Weaver, Riz Ahmed, Emily Blunt, Glenn Close, Ariana DeBose, Samuel L. Jackson, Dwayne Johnson, Michael B. Jordan, Troy Kotsur, Jonathan Majors, Melissa McCarthy, Janelle Monáe, Deepika Padukone, Questlove, Zoe Saldaña and Donnie Yen.
Other presenters for the big night include Pedro Pascal, Kate Hudson, Harrison Ford, Halle Berry, Paul Dano, Cara Delevingne, Mindy Kaling, Eva Longoria, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Andie MacDowell, Elizabeth Olsen and John Travolta.
Connelly’s blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick is up for six Oscars – Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Achievement in Visual Effects, Best Sound, Best Original Song and Best Achievement in Film Editing.

She also spoke about her work with Tom Cruise on Top Gun: Maverick on the Oscar red carpet, revealing how she felt when she flew in Tom Cruise’s personal airplane in the final scene.
‘I had a moment’s pause when he started the engine and flames burst out. No joke, literally flames burst out,’ she said.
‘Yes, so I had a moment’s pause. But you know, he’s so skilled and capable. And he really inspired confidence. I felt very safe,’ she added.
‘That’s a friendship right there when you’re like, I see the flames. I’m still going to enter this, yet I trust you,’ she added.
She also spoke about learning how to sail for the movie, adding, ‘not as well as it appears that I sail in the movie. I have to say.;
‘I had a little help with that. But I did take a lot of sailing lessons,’ she said, and when asked if she’d use those skills in the future, she said, ‘I would love to. I really enjoyed it. So much fun.’
She was also asked, as an Oscar winner, if she had any advice for those at the show for the first time.
‘No. Clearly, if they’re here, they’re doing lots of things right. I just wish everyone the best of luck,’ she said.
