TOWIEs James Lock wants to be best version of himself after bad boy’ past

The Only Way Is Essex has officially returned to our TV screens for its 30th series (yes, you heard that right!) and we couldn’t be more excited – but we’re not the only ones! OK! attended the official TOWIE launch party at Aqua Nueva where we saw the Essex stars dress up to the nines as they came together to look back on the show.

Here, we speak to James Lock, 35, about what we can expect from their time in the Caribbean. And after being unfaithful in the past and not wanting to to settle down, "bad boy" James tells us he wants to be the "best version of himself" as the series celebrates its 30th birthday.

James told OK!: " I want to be the best version of myself. When I was younger, I was chasing love a lot, but, at the minute, I don’t want to be sidetracked. I know that sounds selfish, but I want to progress in life."

The star has previously been linked to former Love Islander Megan Barton Hanson, fellow TOWIE star Danielle Armstrong and was in a long term relationship with Yazmin Oukellou. But he tells us he's focussed on himself at the moment rather than looking for love. "I’m focussing on myself at the moment. I’ve got a lot going on work-wise, I’m doing a few films. I’ve also got my fitness to focus on."

That's not to say that he'd rule out a return to Celebs Go Dating! In fact James tells us: "It's a great show. I would love to do it again." But he says he tends to form connections with girls in a more organic way rather than meeting on dates.

He says: : "I'm not a massive dater anyway, most of the people in my previous relationships are formed from friends. I have to have a connection with someone before anything serious happens."

James also takes a long time to make a relationship official and despite filming Ex On The Beach with Megan and being snapped with her numerous times, he has insisted they were never exclusive. "We never announced we were boyfriend and girlfriend. We did Ex On The Beach. She's a great girl, and we're still friends and very much in contact. It was blown out of proportion."

James, who has previously admitted to being a "bad boy", has also reflected on cheating on Danielle Armstrong early in their relationship and then her dumping him in 2015 just before he was set to propose. Although perhaps that happened for a reason as Danielle went on to start a family while James admits he's not ready for children. He said: "I wasn't ready to settle down then, and I wasn't ready to become a father then."
