Turns Out Harry and Meghan Are *Not* Making Big Changes to Their Netflix Show, After All

A new update in the ongoing drama of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s budding media empire for you: Those recent reports (/gossip/rumors) that couple was working to make some major changes to their highly-anticipated Netflix docuseries? Not true, apparently.

Keeping Up With the Sussexes* (*almost definitely not the show’s real title, even though it absolutely should be) is moving ahead more or less as planned, according to in-the-kn0w sources who spoke to the Daily Telegraph. Any last-minute tweaks and edits being made to the series (which the Daily Beast describes as a “multi-episode reality show”) are just the normal variety made to any series—not the panicky we’re-afraid-this-is-now-insensitive-in-light-of-a-recent-family-tragedy kind that rumors suggested.

“There seems to be a big misconception that they need or want to turn the project on its head,” the source explained. “There are always edits being made, but that’s how it works—people give notes, sometimes things are changed if there’s time before a deadline.”

According to the Telegraph, an “industry source” said there has been some “back and forth” about the release date for the series, which is currently expected to drop in December. The Sussexes’ Netflix project has been in the works for a while now, and will give fans a close, personal look into Harry and Meghan’s lives after their royal exit.

“This is about where they’ve come from, what they’ve been through and where they are…I think it will explain a lot about the decisions they’ve had to make and how they’ve ended up here,” the Telegraph source added.

Earlier this month, Page Six reported that Harry and Meghan were “at odds with Netflix and even their own production team” over the project, with the Sussexes allegedly pushing to “cut chunks” from the docuseries and feeling “panicked about trying to tone down” the ~whole thing~.

“They’ve made significant requests to walk back content they themselves have provided—to the extent that some Netflix staff believe, if granted, it will effectively shelve the project indefinitely,” a Netflix source told the outlet. “Netflix is standing by the filmmakers.”
