Ulrika Jonsson jumps to Ferne McCanns defence after voice note controversy
Ulrika Jonsson has defended Ferne McCann following her voice note drama, saying "we all say things we regret".
TV presenter Ulrika, 55, said that 32 year old Ferne's alleged comments were "shocking and disappointing" but called for the mum-of-one's ITV reality show, First Time Mum, not to be axed.
Ferne has found herself at the centre of controversy recently after an anonymous Instagram account released voice notes, allegedly featuring Ferne's voice, that heard her speaking disparagingly about one of the victims of her ex-boyfriend Arthur Collins' 2017 acid attack.
The scandal first began back in September when the account released recordings where a voice, said to be Ferne, can be heard making derogatory comments about her former pals Sam Faiers and Billie Shepherd.
Ulrika has now weighed in on the scandal, saying that the voice notes are "nothing short of a disgrace".
She told The Sun: "But at least she's accepting some responsibility for the situation. We all say things we regret. If you haven't, then you're either lying or you're Mother Teresa. We say things privately — not intended for public consumption — in personal communications."
Ulrika said she empathised with Ferne as she believed she was talking confidentiality via voice note.
"I know for a fact that if the stark and sometimes vulgar honesty which is the foundation of my relationship with my best friend was ever revealed, you might not just drop your morning toast but be utterly outraged by our use of language.
"I do feel empathy for Ferne for that very reason. She presumed she was talking confidentially," she admitted.

Ulrika went on to say that while the voice notes don't paint Ferne in a great light, her ITV show shouldn't be axed as "we’re all too quick to sack people nowadays".
Ferne addressed the voice note drama recently, and took to Instagram to share a lengthy statement, in which she admitted that she was the person on the voice notes, however she stressed the voice notes are manipulated, edited and taken out of context.
She also said she said things that were untrue and she did not believe them in order to protect herself and her family. She made no reference to the ones about Sam and Billie.
In her statement, she said: "I will have said things that are untrue and did not believe", but that she said them to "protect my family and myself from serious harm".
