Vicky Cornell Opens Up About Husband Chris Cornells Suicide
Vicky Cornell opened up about her late husband Chris Cornell‘s suicide in a recent interview.
“This was like a tsunami. This was nothing. This was not on the radar. This was not like ‘Oh, we have to deal with this’ in any sort of way,'” Vicky said on the SiriusXM show “Gayle King in the House.”
The Soundgarden frontman took his own life at age 52 in a Detroit hotel room in May 2017. Chris was not apparently depressed or had any suicidal tendency, according to his wife.
“Chris did not suffer suicidal ideation, and Chris was not even depressed. Chris was in recovery, and he had been on benzos. But again, looking back… It came from nowhere,” she told Gayle King.
Chris had openly admitted having struggled with substance abuse for most of his life.
“Allow us to talk about our loved ones. Allow us to talk about them every day,” Vicky said about dealing with grief. “And for me and my children, the most important thing has been to keep Chris alive in our home. So he’s spoken about every single day.”
