William and Kate share romantic new photo as they mark 12th wedding anniversary

The Prince and Princess of Wales have shared a touching new photograph to celebrate their 12th wedding anniversary one week before the King's coronation.

Prince William, 40, and Kate Middleton, 41, posted the sweet snap with their arms wrapped around each other during a bike ride as they celebrated their anniversary.

The romantic picture of the royal pair was taken by Royal photographer Matt Porteous and was simply captioned “12 years” along with a love heart.

Even in casual clothing, Kate looked stylish in a white blouse with flower detailing, paired with blue denim jeans and a brown satchel bag across her body.

The Princess pinned her hair back from her face with some round sunglasses and had her hair waved down her shoulders.

Matching in some blue denim jeans, William also looked cool and casual as he donned a navy shirt with the top few buttons undone, accessorised with a pair of black sunglasses.

They each had one hand on their bikes and the other wrapped around one another as they looked straight into the camera.

Royal photographer Matt Porteous took a set of snaps last year for a family photo shoot in Norfolk where the new images of Kate and William appear to be from.

Previous photos released by Kensington Palace show Kate and her children Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, seven and Prince Louis, five, all sweetly sitting on a branch in a small tree together.

Kate and William first met in 2001, when they began art history degrees at St Andrews University in Scotland.

While he and Kate started off as friends, her famous appearance at a charity fashion show is thought to have changed things. During the event, she modelled a skimpy see-through dress, and a smitten William reportedly remarked to a friend, “Wow, Kate’s hot!”

In April 2004 they were pictured together for the first time, while skiing in Klosters in Switzerland. From then on, their relationship continued to blossom, and it’s thought that a mutual love of sport was part of the attraction. They then celebrated their graduation together in 2005.

After having an on and off relationship, their engagement was announced in November 2010 and the royal couple officially tied the knot at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011.

Romantically, William had waited until they were on holiday at Lake Rutundu in Kenya, where he presented Kate with the stunning £300,000 sapphire and diamond ring which had belonged to Diana, Princess of Wales.
