Z-list celebrity reveals how staged paparazzi photos really work – from multiple outfit changes to posing in front of restaurants you can’t afford
An Australian TikToker who enjoyed a brief career as a tabloid celebrity has revealed how Z-listers work with paparazzi to get their names in the headlines.
Jesse ‘Sunset’ Willesee, 32, the son of veteran journalist Terry Willesee, lives in Los Angeles and has been chasing fame for years.
He revealed in a tell-all video how would-be celebrities often arrange their own ‘pap shots’ to make them appear more famous than they actually are.
Jesse learned of the practice from model Angelique ‘Frenchy’ Morgan, whom he pretended to date in 2017 as a publicity stunt.
He recalled how Frenchy, 47, organised for a paparazzo to snap them pretending to leave the upmarket Nobu restaurant in Malibu.
Jesse said he was ‘super terrified’ about visiting Nobu because he couldn’t afford it, before he realised the whole thing was for show.
‘[Frenchy told me], “Don’t worry, the paparazzi just stands across the road with a long lens and shoots us like we’re coming out of Nobu. We don’t even have to go in there,”‘ he said.
Frenchy instructed Jesse to bring ‘four changes of clothes’ for the photo shoot.
The shoot took place over the course of a single day, but the photos were sold to the media as separate sets that were taken across multiple days.

‘This is the thing that, I guess, a lot of celebrities do,’ he explained.
The pair then travelled around LA, posing at cafés and restaurants in different outfits to make it seem like the paparazzi had pursued them on multiple occasions.
‘[It] was really crazy because I never knew people did that and it was so much fun because the guy is a legitimate paparazzo who shoots all these famous people,’ he said.

‘A lot of the paparazzi stuff these days, I guess, is organised. Unless you’re, like, some massive A-lister who’s in the news at the moment, most people organise for the paparazzi to come take pictures of them,’ he added.
It is common practice for aspiring celebrities, including reality stars and social media influencers, to stage ‘candid’ photographs to keep themselves in the headlines.
Many Z-listers have been accused of colluding with paparazzi over the years.

In December a photographer accused P.E. Nation activewear designer Pip Edwards of staging paparazzi-style photos, sharing messages from the fashion designer in which she told him when and where she would be out for a walk so he could get a ‘clean shot’.
Big Brother Australia contestant Skye Wheatley was also accused of doing the same thing back in 2017.
In 2016, Geoffrey Edelsten’s socialite ex-wife Brynne Edelsten organised a paparazzo to stitch up late cricketer Shane Warne as part of a ‘honey trap’ plot.
