Zara McDermott hopes boyfriend Sam Thompson will propose soon – but says children aren’t in her ‘frame of mind.’
The former Love Island star, 25, told MailOnline she’s stopped thinking about babies after growing up believing she would have a big family.
In an exclusive interview, Zara insisted that she’s a long way off motherhood – but she dreams of marrying her Made In Chelsea boyfriend Sam Thompson, 30, in an intimate wedding ceremony.

She said: ‘When I was younger, I used to think that I wanted like loads, now it’s not even like in my frame of mind. You will not expect any children from me for a long time.
‘We have a lovely little nephew next door, so we get our baby fix and then give it back.’
The couple, who have been dating since 2019, live next door to Sam’s sister Louise, her fiancé Ryan Libbey and their baby, Leo, who was born in November last year.
Zara says the natural next step in her relationship with Sam is to get married and she believes her boyfriend will be surprised to learn that an ‘extravagant’ wedding is her worst nightmare.
She added: ‘I don’t think we’d be living together if I didn’t see marriage happening in the future.

‘Sam’s going to listen to this and laugh because he probably won’t believe me, but I actually want something that’s quite small and intimate.
‘I’m kind of over all the big extravagant weddings. When my friends tell me about their big weddings, it sounds like a lot of stress and a lot of planning. It seems like a day for everyone else.
‘Whereas I think something really small, and just intimate and personal, where my really close family and friends can come – that’s what I would want to do as a wedding.’
Zara admits part of her reason for not wanting children right now is because she’s so focussed on her career.
After rising to fame on Love Island in 2018, Zara turned her hand to investigative journalism for BBC Three documentaries Uncovering Rape Culture and Revenge Porn.

The star, whose next project will look into the rise of eating disorders among young people, said: ‘Our careers are definitely a massive priority.
‘As much as our relationship is a priority, our career is also a priority. We only get one shot, and we are both each other’s biggest supporters.’
Zara was devastated after her relationship with Sam briefly ended in 2020 when he discovered she cheated at the start of their romance with music boss Brahim Fouradi, who she met while appearing on X Factor: Celebrity.
Sam eventually forgave Zara after the pair’s emotional breakup was documented on Made In Chelsea, and she was filmed begging her boyfriend for a second chance.
Reminiscing about their first holiday together, Zara says she instantly knew Sam was ‘The One’ after they visited New York, describing the trip as ‘the best time ever.’

She said: ‘We got together, and it was like the height of summer and we both had so much going on and then we did cuff for winter I guess we knuckled down and we spent a lot of time together.
‘We went on this trip to New York, which was absolutely amazing. We did a lot of exploring and sightseeing and it was super fun. We had the best time ever.
‘I wasn’t expecting to have a good time because it was very cold, and I have never been on a cold holiday before. That trip that actually made me think he’s The One.’
Revealing their secret to a successful relationship, Zara added: ‘Don’t shout at each other try and really articulate what you’re trying to say.
‘Don’t swear, don’t use any words that you don’t need and never go to bed angry at each other.’
