An actress who paid $100 for headshots over a decade ago found herself on the cover of an erotic novel after failing to read the terms of her contract. 

Christian Demeritt, 38, from Miami, shared her wild story on TikTok, explaining that she had hired a photographer to take the professional shots after she graduated from college in 2010. 

She was hoping to book work as an actress, but what she didn’t anticipate was landing on the cover of Samantha Drake’s sexy adult novel titled ‘His Big Childhood Sweetheart.’

‘Thinking about that one time I didn’t read the fine print on my headshots contract and my photographer sold my pics to stock photo sites,’ she captioned footage of herself looking dismayed.

The photoshopped cover shows Demeritt smiling and standing next to a hunky man who is flaunting his ripped abs. 

The book, which is part of a series, is described as being a BWWM (black woman, white man), BBW (big beautiful woman), plus-size, childhood sweetheart, and billionaire romance. 

Demeritt’s video has been viewed more than 448,000 times, and commenters were both horrified and amused by the unexpected turn of events.

Others recalled how they ended up on billboards and advertisements after finding themselves in a similar situation.  

Demeritt shared more details about her now-famous headshots in a series of follow-up videos, saying the photographer in question was referred to her by another actor in South Florida.

She paid the photographer a discounted rate of $100 for the photo, which were taken at Bayside Marketplace in Miami in 2010.

They took the images at Bayside Marketplace in Miami nearly 13 years ago, and he gave her a discounted rate. After paying him $100 and thanking him for his services, she thought they were done.

Demeritt wasn’t sure if it was a few months or a few years later, but her friends started noticing her picture being used in ads, newspapers, and training courses. 

She recalled how someone she knew in Sacramento, California, was walking by a newsstand and saw her face.  

‘The Sacramento News & Review used my picture and turned me into the Mona Lisa,’ she explained. ‘It was an article about whether or not Sacramento’s art scene was too white. 

‘I thought it was an interesting way to use the picture. I actually liked it,’ she noted. ‘However, I didn’t know how they got it. Like what’s going on?’

Demeritt’s image has been featured in a number of online ads over the years. She also found an anonymous author who has been using her picture in her Amazon profile

Demeritt added that her image has also been featured in articles published by MadameNoire, a training course on elder affairs, and an Amazon profile of an author who wanted to remain anonymous. 

‘This picture has made its rounds,’ she said.

The buzz surrounding her original video led her to look up the photographer to see if she could dig up her contract. She ended up finding his name and looked him up, confirming that he was still making money off of her image. 

‘People keep saying, “How much money did you make?” Here’s the sucky part about this whole thing. I ain’t make no money,’ she said. ‘I made $0 matter of fact. The photographer is still making money on my pics though.’

As for the author’s book featuring her photo, she hasn’t read it, and she doesn’t have any intention of reading it. 

‘Apparently, she writes very specific, niche, slightly fetishist books about plus-size black women falling in love with white millionaires and billionaires,’ she explained. ‘Nothing that I will typically read. [But] I know that there’s a market for it, apparently.’

Demeritt noted that the adult novel is part of a series, and there is a different woman on every cover.  

‘So I’m guessing that they don’t know about this either,’ she said. ‘Maybe this video is telling them about it for the first time.’
