‘Summer House’ star Carl Radke leaves Kyle Cooke’s company, Loverboy
Amanda Batula revealed she and Kyle Cooke “always” had a feeling that Carl Radke would one day leave their company, Loverboy, because of his sober lifestyle.
“It’s a bummer,” the “Summer House” star, 31, told Page Six on Monday. “We love Carl. He’s been a part of the business with us from the beginning, and when he decided to become sober — which was obviously for the best — we always knew that there was a chance that he would end up parting ways.”
The Loverboy Creative Director acknowledged that it can be “a lot” to be “working with an alcohol company” and “being around people” who are drinking while remaining sober.
“We’re so grateful that he stuck it out for as long as he had,” Batula emphasized. “You move on in life, you move on from jobs. I’m just really happy that we’re able to keep that friendship there, because that’s the most important thing, and we’re there to support him.”
Batula added that “the door is always open” for Radke, 38, if he decides to come back but that overall it’s been a “bittersweet” transition.
“I feel like we talk about this as if it’s a breakup, and it’s like you know, he just left his job,” she clarified. “The relationship and the friendships are still there.”
Last week, Radke confirmed that he had left his position as the VP of Sales at Loverboy — which was founded by Cooke — after three years. He would, however, remain an investor.
“When we’re standing in bars and traveling all around, and doing all this stuff, and I’m looking at it, I’m like, this doesn’t align necessarily authentic with me,” Radke told ET last week. “It’s challenging, the environment.”
Despite his sober lifestyle being the reason for his stepping back, many theorized that it could have also been a result of his fights with Cooke.
The trailer for the upcoming season of “Summer House” showed Cooke, 40, shouting that Radke could “walk away from the company right now and the company won’t feel a f–king thing.”
“It’s gonna be hard to watch, no doubt, but I’m optimistic about the future. I mean, I think [we’re still] figuring out the friend aspect,” Radke told the outlet.
“Summer House” Season 7 premieres on Monday, Feb. 13, at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
