Americans are only just realising Brits age-old hack for making best sandwich
Brits have one simple hack for improving almost any sandwich – put crisps in it.
Or better still, replace the main filling entirely with, yes you guessed it, crisps.
But it appears that while some Americans may be "vaguely aware" of the first "concept", for much of the States' population, the next level 'crisps only' suggestion appears to be something of a revelation.

On Tuesday, a British journalist shared a picture from the New York Times Cooking instagram page, showing a sandwich with crisps, known as chips Stateside, accompanying the main filling.
On the image, it said: Making a sandwich? Put chips in it."
A second line added: Beyond crunch, chips also add stability, holding the fillings in place as you eat."
Robyn Vinter, the Guardian's North of England correspondent, remarked: "Sorry but this cannot be a new concept for Americans."
But the replies suggested it might just well be.
One US resident said: "Sorry but it really is. New and novel and amazingly delish!"
Another person commented: "It's a new concept for most of the world."
Matt Round suggested: "They seem to be vaguely aware of the idea of putting some in sandwiches, but not the concept of using them as the primary filling," to which Robyn replied: "Which as we know is more wonderful".
However, some Americans insisted it was nothing new for them.
One said: "Nope, we knew. This is just a case of the "experts" finally acknowledging what the people already knew."
Another added: "It isn't. Anyone who hasn't done this by age 5 isn't an American."
Last year, the classic cheese toastie was named the UK’s favourite sandwich replacing the bacon butty.
The research was carried out by online food ordering app Foodhub.
Spokesperson Emma Stockman said: “Britain is a nation of sandwich lovers.
"Last year there was no surprise to see bacon named our favourite sandwich filling, however, we were shocked to see cheese toastie has topped the charts this time.
"What’s more, we’re pleased to finally put an end to the ‘bread roll’ debate, however, we’re sure the final answer is sure to still anger many people.”
