Amy Childs’ unique baby name meanings as she reveals twins’ sentimental monikers
Several days on from announcing her twins’ arrival, Amy Childs has shared the chosen names of her newborn son and daughter.
Amy, 32, announced in October that she was expecting twins with boyfriend Billy Delbosq, 40, and has now welcomed their babies into the world.
The Only Way Is Essex favourite, who has since started filming for her new show about her life as a mum of twins, gave birth to her children on Thursday, 6 April, just a minute apart from each other.
While Amy didn’t initially share the twins’ names, the mum-of-four has since revealed that she and partner Billy have named their kids Billy and Amelia (Millie for short).
In light of the reality TV star sharing the news, we look into the meaning behind the sweet monikers…
As well as Billy being the name of Amy’s partner, whom she’s been dating since 2021, Amy’s dad is also called Billy – likely to have sparked the star to choose the sentimental name.
While Billy is traditionally diminutive of William, it’s thought Amy’s son’s name doesn’t stem from the lengthier moniker.
The name is of English origin and is classed as a unisex name. According to Nameberry it means “resolute protection”.
It’s unclear if Amelia has a sentimental link to the new parents but, as per The Bump, the name means “industrious”, “striving,” and “work”.
The lovely moniker, which is Latin, has proven popular for many years and has long been in the top 10 baby names on BabyCentre.
Amy joins a host of celebs in welcoming twins or expecting twins in recent months.
Her close friend Frankie Essex gave birth to twins in May 2022, while the likes of Dani Dyer, Ollie and Gareth Locke-Locke, and Alex Reid and his fiancée Nikki Manashe are all expected to welcome two babies this year.
Meanwhile, just like Amy and Frankie, Hollywood star Hilary Swank recently welcomed twins.
The actress, 48, announced the arrival of her babies on Instagram, revealing she'd given birth to both a boy and a girl but kept their names under wraps.
The new mum of two, who married husband Philip in 2018, shared a photograph of her holding her newborns in her arms while looking out at the sunset, and told her fans she is in "pure heaven" as she celebrated Easter with her new arrivals.
"It wasn't easy. But boy (and girl!) was it worth it," Hilary proudly announced.
