Ant McPartlin’s tattoos explained, with link to mental health and the TV star’s time in rehab
Ant McPartlin debuted a new – and huge – musical themed tattoo back in 2022.
The TV presenter, who is one half of the iconic Ant and Dec duo and currently hosting I'm A Celeb South Africa, inked a tribute to the late musical artist John Lennon on his right arm.
The TV star copied the Strawberry Fields mosaic from John Lennon's original memorial in New York in the United States – and even included a special mention of his favourite song.
The star is a recent fan of tattoos – here are the rest of his inkings…
What do Ant’s tattoos mean?
The 47 year old most recently showed off a brand new inking in tribute to the late Beatles' singer John Lennon.
In 2022, Ant had a massive inking of the iconic Strawberry Fields black and white mosaic, which appears on the original memorial in New York, copied onto his right arm.
In the centre of the piece is the word Imagine, a reference to the singer's biggest solo hit.
In August 2021, Ant unveiled another brand new inking in tribute to his wife Anne-Marie.
On his chest – just over his actual heart – Ant has had an A in a heart tattooed.
In 2018, Ant debuted a tattoo that appears to be the Alcoholics Anonymous logo, an apparent tribute to his work towards recovery.
He later had an arrow tattooed, which fans online suggest is an indication that he had been sober for a year.
Ant previously told The Sun that the arrow has a “personal meaning but it’s very positive.”
The star also has ’S&H’ on his wrist, and while it’s not clear what the ‘H’ stands for, the ’S’ is for ‘sober’ according to The Sun.
Ant also has three small stars tattooed near his left wrist.
The former Byker Grove actor admitted himself to rehab after struggling with addiction to painkillers in June, 2017.
By mid August, he had returned home, and began to open up. Ant explained: "I was at the point where anything — prescription drugs, non-prescription drugs — I would take.
"And take them with alcohol, which is ridiculous. The doctors told me, ‘You could have killed yourself’," he added.
However, if his tattoos are anything to do by, it looks like Ant, who recently got married again, has managed to get himself back on the straight and narrow since.
