Breast cancer treatment was a nightmare – my surgeon was rude and nurses didn't seem to care | The Sun
DEAR DEIDRE: I FELT like a number on a conveyor belt when I spent time in hospital being treated for breast cancer.
The surgeon appeared arrogant and rude and the nurses seemed uncaring. It was grim.
When I left hospital there was nobody I could ring for help.
There weren’t any breast care nurses to contact.
I live miles from a hospital and have barely left the house apart from cancer appointments.
I haven’t told many people about what I went through.

If I’m asked how I am, I feel like I have to sugar-coat my experience.
I won’t ever be able to wear a bikini or low-cut tops because of the surgery.
I struggle to use my arm and hand after having nodes removed.
Also, I can’t write properly or cut up food in a restaurant.
I’m 47 and also menopausal. Most of the time I wish I was dead instead of living a half-life.
