Former child stars Drew Barrymore and Corey Feldman reunited for the first time in more than two decades on Wednesday.
The actress and the “Stand by Me” star, who briefly dated as teenagers, got a chance to catch up on “The Drew Barrymore Show.”
“We haven’t seen each other in how long?” Barrymore, 47, asked her talk show guest.
“25 years,” Feldman, 51, replied.
The “Scream” star then asked the musician to “reboot her memory” in regard to their first date.
“So, I get a call one day, and my grandmother says, ‘We got a call from Steven [Spielberg]’s office, and the little girl from “E.T.” wants to meet you because she’s got a crush on you,’” he recalled.
“Oh yeah, I did — everyone did,” Barrymore chimed in.
“I loved you as an actor and a human, but getting to know you … what I was always drawn to was your lack of ego,” she continued. “We were around so many nice people, but many people who fell prey to self-indulgence, and you didn’t.”
The “Gremlins” star continued recalling the story of their first outing together, which involved Barrymore’s mom asking whether they could “get together and go on a little play date.”
“Of course neither of us drove because I was still living at my grandparents’ and you were living with your mom,” Feldman said, noting he was 12 or 13 while Barrymore was 10.
“We were literally just kids. It was so cute. I remember taking you to the movies. … It was the movie theater next to the Gelson’s parking lot. So we parked at the Gelson’s, walked across the street, and you put your little hand up for me to hold, and I held your hand as we walked across the street.”
However, Feldman couldn’t recall which movie they watched.
“We just stayed friends, and then it was years before we actually dated,” he explained.
Barrymore then asked her ex whether he remembered attending the 1989 Academy Awards together when they were teens.
“I remember you were going, so I was lucky enough to be your date, and I just threw on a cotton Betsey Johnson dress off the rack,” she recounted.
“I remember getting there and seeing people in such designer duds … and looking around thinking, ‘Oh, I’m very underdressed.’”
The “Charlie’s Angels” star went on to describe Feldman as a “positive” influence on her.
“We had that kind of relationship where they say like, ‘Date your friends,’ and we were the embodiment of that,” she shared.
“You were such a safe place for me, and we always hung out with your friends. … It was just a really important place for me, and the memories are so vivid.”
The “Goonies” star has been married three times: to Vanessa Marcil from 1989 to 1993, Susie Sprague from 2002 to 2014 and Courtney Anne Mitchell, whom he wed in 2016.
The “50 First Dates” actress has also been married thrice: to Jeremy Thomas from 1994 to 1995, Tom Green from 2001 to 2002 and Will Kopelman from 2012 to 2016.
She and Kopelman, 44, share two children: Olive, 10, and Frankie, 8.
