EastEnders, Coronation Street and Emmerdale stars you didn’t know are related off screen

Some of our favourite soap stars from EastEnders, Coronation Street and Emmerdale have some rather famous family members off screen that many of us don't know about.

Soap fans will know the on screen relations that have us hooked with their storylines from the Beales, Barlows and Dingles but when it comes to life away from set it's quite the family affair.

While we watch stars regularly on TV we take a closer look at their life off screen and their famous relations we didn't know about…

The Dynevors

Sally Dynevor has played the role of Sally Metcalfe on Coronation Street since 1986, becoming a well known face of the soap, but she also has two daughters who are following in her footsteps.

Her eldest daughter, Phoebe, 27, was the star of the first series of Netflix's Bridgerton where she played the role of Daphne and also appeared in the second series of the hit period drama.

Her younger sister, Hattie, 19, has also taken on the love of acting and is due to appear in BBC drama Waterloo Road, a drama series that Phoebe also appeared in when she was younger.

The Robbins

Many will be familiar with Emily Atack, 33 the actress, comedian and TV personality who came runner-up on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2018.

The actress is also known for appearing in The Inbetweeners as Will McKenzie's love interest, Charlotte Hinchcliffe.

But many will be unaware that acting is within her blood with her mum, auntie and uncle all being soap stars.

Her mum, Kate Robbins, 64, briefly appeared in Eastenders in 2021 as Jen Glover.


Meanwhile, her aunt Amy Robbins, 52, has recently joined the cast of Corrie as Christina Boyd – the neglectful mother of Daisy Midgley.

Emily's uncle Ted Robbins, 67, also appeared in Corrie from 2015 to 2016 as Brendan Finch.

The Lomas-Webbs

Charley Webb, 35 who played the role of Debbie Dingle for almost 20 years on Emmerdale from 2002 to 2021 is in fact the sister of Jamie Lomas, 47 who stars in Hollyoaks as Warren Fox.

Jamie also appeared in Eastenders as Jake Stone from 2013 to 2015.

The brother and sister double act both have children, Jamie who used to be married to Kym Marsh, 46 who played Michelle Connor on Corrie from 2006 to 2019 shares daughter Polly, 19.

While Charley is married to soap star Matthew Wolfenden, 42 who appears on Emmerdale as David Metcalfe – they have three children together.

The Roaches

Some would call him the face of Corrie as William Roache has played the role of Ken Barlow since 1960 and holds the Guinness World Record as the longest-serving male TV star in a continuous role.

And his two sons joined him at work as they played Ken's on screen son and grandson.

His eldest son Linus, 59, played the part of Ken's son, Peter, from 1973 to 1975 before returning to the cobbles in 2010 as Ken’s long lost son Lawrence Cunningham.

To complicate things further, his other son, James, 37, then played Ken's on screen son also called James.

The Walshes

Emmerdale star Amy Walsh, 35, joined the set in 2014 to play the role of turbulent Tracy Metcalfe but off screen has two famed sisters.

Her older sister Sally Walsh, 45, appeared in the same soap as Lyn Hutchinson from 1997 to 2000.

While their sister Kimberley Walsh, 41, is a former member of Girls Aloud – the iconic pop girl group that was created through Popstars.

The Wood-Milburns

Greg Wood, 43,is known for his villain characters as Rick Neelan in Coronation Street between 2009 and 2022, Trevor Royle in Hollyoaks from 2013 to 2016 and Terry Gibson in Brookside from 2002 to 2003.

His brother, Matt Milburn is also in the world of soaps having starred in Hollyoaks and Emmerdale.

As well as playing the role of footballer Tommy Orpington on Corrie, on and off, since 2016.


The Halfpennys

Taking it to Albert Square, Jill Halfpenny, 47, played police officer Kate Morton in EastEnders from 2002 until 2005 – originally entering as Phil Mitchell’s love interest.

While her niece, Chelsea Halfpenny, 31, went to the Yorkshire village of Emmerdale from 2010 to 2013 for the role of Amy Wyatt.

The Thomases

Fan favourite and hunk Ryan Thomas, 38, joined Corrie on Christmas Day in 2000 as Jason Grimshaw, staying in the role until 2016.

His younger brother, Adam, 34, went onto Emmerdale in 2009 as Adam Barton and has now returned to the role of Donte in Waterloo Road.

Not only this, but Adam's son Teddy, 8, has starred alongside him in Waterloo Road along with Ryan's daughter, Scarlett, 14 who he shares with Corrie star Tina O'Brien and who made her acting debut as Izzy in the BBC drama series.

The third brother, Scott, who is Adam's twin, made an appearance on TV as he entered the Love Island villa in 2016.

The Turner-Harveys

The feisty face of Eastenders, Lacey Turner, 35, who has played the role of Stacey Slater since 2004 has two sisters who also took the soap star route.

Her younger sister, Lily Harvey, 22, briefly played Shenice Quinn in EastEnders in 2011 while her other sister, Daisy Turner, 32, went to Hollyoaks as Rebecca Massey in 2011.

The Swashes

Joe Swash, 41. joined Eastenders in 2003 and shot to fame for his role as Mickey Miller.

A year later, his sister Shana Swash, 32, joined as his on screen sister, Demi Miller – a role Lacey Turner originally auditioned for.

Shana left Albert Square in 2006 and Joe followed two years later.

Jenkins-Fleeshmans

Richard Fleeshman, 33, became the heartthrob in Corrie as he entered as goth Craig Harris from 2002 to 2006.

His mum Sue Jenkins, 64, was previously on the soap from 1985 to 1988 in the role of Gloria Todd

The Flanagans

One set of stars who have more than proven that their acting skills run in the family are the Flanagans, with all three siblings from the Leeds based family having delighted audiences on both Coronation Street and and Emmerdale.

Fans will no doubt recognise Amelia Flanagan, 14, who plays April Windsor in the daughter of Marlon Dingle and the late Donna Windsor in Emmerdale.

But in a surprising twist, her younger siblings twins William and Isabella, 12, currently star in rival soap Coronation Street as Hope Stape and Joseph Brown!

The Ash Family


Another famous soap star family is the Ash family, which gifted fans with the dramatic stylings of Caleb Milligan star William Ash in Yorkshire soap Emmerdale.

While many fans at home, may known that he previously attended the very same school as his on screen brother Cain Dingle, played by Jeff Hordley, not everyone is aware that he also boasts a very famous cousin from rival soap Coronation Street.

William’s younger cousin is none other than Peter Ash, the talented actor who plays Paul Foreman the twin brother of Gemma Winter on the Cobbles.
