EPHRAIM HARDCASTLE: Andrew Marr speaks for the first time about his disgruntlement at being dropped from his tribute to the late Queen
Andrew Marr has spoken for the first time about his disgruntlement at being dropped from his tribute to the late Queen because he had left the BBC.
Marr had recorded the final version of the commentary on the main BBC1 obituary of the monarch just before his December 2021 move.
But when the film went out on September 8, the voice heard was Kirsty Young’s. ‘That was upsetting,’ he tells Radio Times. ‘I’d been making and remaking it for ten years or so. It was decided apparently in the BBC that it might ‘confuse or upset’ viewers if they heard my voice on it now I’d left the BBC, which seemed an odd argument.’
Like God in the Old Testament, Marr concurred the BBC was saying: ‘You are either for me or against me.’ Well Andy, you did pack your powder puff and defect to LBC!

Prince Harry’s move to California fulfilled the ambition of his late mother Diana to relocate there, according to a Channel 5 documentary, which states: ‘In his mind, he is completing the circle.’
Commentator Bidisha Mamata tells Prince Harry: Secrets Of His Hollywood Life: ‘He is saying to himself now, ‘That’s what I have done. I am doing everything my mother wanted to do and didn’t get to do because she died so young.’
Viscountess Hinchingbrooke adds: ‘It’s really hard to imagine him ever coming back to the UK.’ Is that the wind or sighs of relief from Buckingham Palace?

Anna Ford, pictured with Martin Amis in 1983, has hopefully calmed down since raging against the novelist for ignoring his duties as godfather to her daughter.
‘You paid scant attention to Claire (didn’t even cough up the statutory five bob expected from godfathers!) and she hasn’t heard from you since,’ she fumed in a letter to The Guardian in 2010.
‘Can I suggest that this level of narcissism and inability to empathise may be at the root of your anger with the press and your need to court attention?’ Retorted Martin: ‘When you receive an unprovoked attack like this you are left wondering about the personal troubles of the aggressor.’
