Four cash-saving tricks to create your own artwork to display at home | The Sun

GRAB your brush – it is time to create a masterpiece.

This week sees the Banksy Exhibition in Glasgow and The RA Summer Exhibition is on in London.

If you are feeling inspired, why not follow these tricks to create some of your own artwork at home?

IN THE FRAME: Influencer Maddy Corbin (@maddy.corbin) wanted to create a stylish gallery wall, but on a budget.

Instead of ordering expensive framed shots, she collected her favourite family photos and had them printed in black and white.

Then Maddy ordered black frames and mounted the pictures randomly above her sofa.

Get your photos printed at freeprintsapp.co.uk and only pay the delivery costs.

The Ikea Yllevad frames start at 75p each.

SPLASH OF COLOUR: Stylish Instagrammer Megan Ellaby (@MeganEllaby) created a new look by reviving her existing gallery wall with a lick of paint.

But instead of painting the whole wall, she used tester pots to cover the card mount in the current frames for a fresh update.

DRAPE EXPECTATIONS: Add depth to a gallery wall by creating your own fabric plaster art.

Mix some plaster with water and dip old sheets into the mixture, following the tutorial of TikTok influencer Nora Gharib (@NoraGharib).

Arrange your canvas into any shape you like and leave to dry for 24 hours.

Then paint another layer of mixed plaster and water over the top.

Dry it for another 24 hours and then you have your own unique draped plaster art.

TRAIN YOUR PALETTE: Interiors influencer Emma Caitlin (youtube.com/@EmmaCaitlain) has a great technique to make wall art using a palette knife, plaster and leftover paint.

Mix up some plaster and use either cardboard or something else with a hard edge to smear on to a canvas.

Layer it up, dry it overnight, then add dabs of paint for a creative textured piece of art.
