Kate, Princess of Wales is proud mummy to Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, seven, and Prince Louis, four. Like mothers all over the country, Kate was celebrated by her family on Mother’s Day. Body language expert Judi James gave her verdict on what kind of relationship Kate has with her three children.
The Prince and Princess of Wales shared two gorgeous photos in honour of Mother’s Day alongside the caption “Happy Mother’s Day from our family to yours”.
One photo shows Kate nestled in a tree with all three children and the other shows Kate cradling little Louis in her arms.
In the first photo of Kate and her three young ones, Judi noted that her children’s body language revealed a great deal about the kind of mum Kate is.
She stated: “Her two boys use protective signals as they pose alongside her, with George leaning in and placing one leg across her in a barrier gesture, while even little Louis sits with his arm extended across her torso, and his hand holding her leg.”
Without William there in the photograph, the young Princes are the men of the family and appear to be taking care of their mum.
Charlotte is unsurprisingly a little mini-me of her mummy sitting in the same position and turning her body inwards towards her.

Judi continued: “With Charlotte’s mirroring rituals as she sits opposite her mother this seems to be all about cherishing their mother who they all see as one of their play group.”
As for the kind of mother Kate is based on her body language, the expert suggested that she is “one of the team”.
Kate is a mum to “share the games and the fun with, in a very casual and down-to-earth way”.
But while the royal mum of three has this playful, jovial side to her, Judi noted that she also demonstrates nurturing skills.
She stated: “Kate seems to be revealing two different aspects of motherhood in these adorable photos with her children.
“In the photo with Louis though we can see Kate’s own protective, maternal side emerging.
“Louis is such a confident, playful boy but here we can see him being cherished and cradled like a small child, with Kate looking down with a warmly loving facial expression.”
Despite the fact that Kate’s experience is totally unique in that she is the future Queen, she has a very relatable approach to parenting, according to the expert.
Judi continued: “It will be a look that is familiar to many mothers who watch their children grow and learn independence with pride and affection but who still possibly yearn for the days when they were safe in their arms as a baby.”
It’s clear that Kate is multi-faceted when it comes to parenting, knowing when to play a fun role and when to be tender.
She concluded: “Her parenting style looks flexible, with an emphasis on fun and promoting feelings of freedom.
“She can clearly join in the play like one of the children but also switch to a very classic nurturing form of more protective love to keep her children feeling safe and protected when necessary.”
