“Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Dorit Kemsley — who claims a burglar held a gun to her head during last year’s home invasion — cracked a joke about dodging a bullet… “this time.”
In a confessional during Wednesday’s episode of the Bravo reality show, Kemsley, 46, reflected on not testing positive for COVID-19, which simultaneously affected co-stars Lisa Rinna, Erika Jayne and Garcelle Beauvais.
“Luckily, I’ve managed to dodge the bullet,” Kemsley said to the camera, pausing for a brief moment before leaning in with a smirk and adding, “this time.”
The quip didn’t land with several social media users, one of whom tweeted Kemsley’s exact quote and added, “Dorit who is allegedly suffering from PTSD after allegedly being held at gunpoint.”
Another critic posted, “Dorit how could you say ‘dodge the bullet’ knowing what we know that Kyle [Richards] knows that Sutton [Stracke] allegedly knows that you’ve gone through?!”
A third follower quoted the reality star’s words words and shared a GIF of “Real Housewives of New York” alum Bethenny Frankel appearing shocked.
Kemsley and her two young children were victims of a burglary in October 2021 when masked men broke through a glass door and entered their Encino, Calif., home. The “RHOBH” star’s husband, Paul “PK” Kemsley, was out of the country at the time.
Dorit cried as she recounted the night to her castmates on a recent episode of “Beverly Hills,” claiming one of the intruders held a gun to her head as she begged him to spare her life and not harm son Jagger, 8, and daughter Phoenix, 6, who were asleep in their bedrooms.
“When he saw me, he panicked, and he charged at me, grabbed me, put me down [and yelled], ‘Get down on the f–king ground! I’m gonna f–king kill you!’” Dorit recalled on the show. “[He] put a gun to me, and I was just hunched over, sobbing, going, ‘Please, please, I have little babies. Please, I’m a mother. Please, I beg of you, my kids need me.’”
“I was begging him, begging,” she continued, “and the other guy was going, ‘Just f–king kill her. Just f–king kill her.’”
At the time, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department refused to confirm reports that Dorit was held at gunpoint during the break-in.
“The victim was inside the residence at the time and was confronted by the suspects,” read the LAPD’s statement of the incident. “Both suspects threatened to kill her as she pleaded for her life and the lives of her young children.”
The statement noted that Dorit was “in fear for her safety,” so she “complied with the suspects’ demands and directed them to valuables.”
According to police, the two robbers stole “high-end handbags, jewelry and watches” before they “exited the home with the items wrapped in bedding.”
The suspects have yet to be caught.
