I am tempted to try shockwave therapy to cure erectile dysfunction | The Sun
DEAR DEIDRE: I AM thinking of trying shockwave therapy to cure my erection problems.
I am 44 and have suffered with erectile dysfunction for 12 years.
I’ve been to my doctor numerous times, and have tried everything apart from having a penile implant.
My last partner left me because of this. I now have a new girlfriend. She’s 39.
We haven’t had sex yet as I struggle to keep an erection with her although I wake up fully aroused in the mornings.
I am healthy, I don’t smoke and I’m not a heavy drinker. I work out three times a week.

Online, I found a treatment called shockwave therapy.
Apparently, I would need six sessions before seeing results and I would have to pay.
The success rate is about 80 per cent. I am tempted.

DEIDRE SAYS: Save your money. There’s not enough long-term research to say how long this treatment might last, if the effects could wear off, or whether you will need further treatment later.
Your problem is psychological. Anxiety is blocking your sexual responses, so the first step is to share those fears with your girlfriend.
By talking about your concerns, the level of trust and the sense of connection will improve.
This should ease the pressure you feel and help your responses return to normal.
