‘I cancelled my daughter’s special birthday – she should have behaved better’
Parenting is no easy task – and it seemed like this dad really had his hands full.
After his daughter nearly hospitalised one of her mates at school, the parent was left with no choice but to cancel her 16th birthday party.
And, she certainly was not happy.

The dad promised his teen daughter a bash at home with her pals on the basis that her grades were good and she did not cause any trouble.
Sticking to her good behaviour, the teen was making progress in the classroom while she behaved well.
But, it seemed that she did not listen well enough.
It all changed when the dad got a phone call from her school.
The teacher rang up to inform him that the teen had snuck a bottle of booze into school – which made her friend unwell.
Having organised the party, the dad made the decision to call it quits.
He took to Reddit to share his story – and people certainly had mixed opinions.
"My daughter has been struggling keeping her grades up and hanging out with the wrong crowd. I have hired a few tutors to help with some subjects and she is seeing a therapist," he shared.
"She will lash out sometimes at home and I will have to punish her. She asked if she could celebrate her 16th birthday party at the house and I told her that I was fine with having a party as long as she stayed out of trouble and did well on her math test.
"The party is scheduled for the weekend of January 14th and we have about 10 of her friends coming over."
However, one act of naughtiness changed it all.
The dad explained: "I get a call from the school on Wednesday that she had snuck in a water bottle filled with alcohol and one of her friends had to be sent to the nurse.
"I went to pick her up and she tells me that her one friend pressured her into bringing the bottle to school. She will serve in-school suspension for five days.
"When we got home, I took away all her electronics and she can only use her phone for emergencies."
He then dropped the bombshell and said: "I also told her that the birthday party will be cancelled.
"She got very upset and started screaming at me that I was the worst father in the world. She stormed up to her room and slammed the door."
It's safe to say a lot of people had strong opinions on the matter. Some agreed with the dad's actions but others felt like he went 'overboard'.
One person remarked: "You set a boundary, she broke it. Cancelling the party makes sense.
"But getting an in-school suspension, no milestone birthday party and her electronics taken away for an unclear amount of time does appear a bit overboard."
Another user added: "She did not follow through on her end of the bargain – that has consequences. This is a life lesson.
"Also that alcohol thing is very serious. That's another conversation you need to have with her."
While a third voiced: "Cancelling the party was necessary. But be sure to celebrate her birthday at home, just the three of you. Cancel the party, not her birthday."
Someone else praised: "You gave her some conditions under which the party could happen. She broke one of the conditions and now has to face the consequences.
"Good for you for setting boundaries."
Meanwhile, a fifth urged: "But like, talk to her, it sounds like she’s struggling."
