I couldn't eat or sleep after my granddad's death, but you helped me through | The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: AFTER my grandfather died of prostate cancer, I felt anxious and unable to cope with normal life.

He had been like a dad to me and I missed him so much.

I would wake up in the morning, remember he wasn’t there any more, and want to get straight back into bed. Everything seemed pointless.

I am 32, and my late grandpa was 82.

I couldn’t stop crying and I couldn’t eat or sleep.

I wrote to you, because my sister said I was suffering from grief, and thought you would be able to help.

You sent me your support pack about bereavement and reassured me that I wouldn’t always feel so miserable.

You suggested I have grief counselling, and advised me to see my GP as I sounded depressed.

I took your advice to do something special to remember him, and planted a rose bush in the front garden.

It has helped me to think of him in a happy way again.

I am now eating and sleeping normally. Thank you.
