I made massive mistake when I checked my £80k winning lottery ticket – I was left shaking when I realised what I’d done | The Sun
A LUCKY lottery winner was left "shaking" after realising he made a huge mistake as he checked his £80,000 winning lottery ticket.
David Ebert was enjoying his lunch break one day when he decided to pick up some tickets for the next evening's lottery draw.
A week later, while on his lunch break again, he popped to a store to check his numbers.
Ebert, from Saskatchewan, Canada, told the Western Canada Lottery Corporation: "I had a stack of tickets that I took into scan.
"When I scanned this ticket, I thought it said $10,000 (£8,000).
"So, I put it at the bottom of the pile and kept scanning."

My strategy helped me win £1.5m on lottery… but I thought it was a prank
After returning to the office, Ebert decided to check his tickets once again.
"I checked the numbers on the website, and none of them were matching," he explained.
"Then, I looked at the EXTRA number and realised I had won $100,000 (£80,000) – not $10,000 (£8,000).
"I was shaky when I realised."

He said he asked his co-workers to verify his win using the Lotto Spot app.
Ebert said he plans to invest his winnings – but he does have one big idea for the cash.
"My wife and I are already going to Hawaii, and we would like to take a helicopter ride," he said.
"We’re at a stage in our lives where we are content," Ebert added.
"This is a bonus."
He bought the winning ticket from London Drugs at 134 Primrose Drive in Saskatoon.
He won by matching the last six digits of the winning EXTRA number – 2608994.
It comes after another lucky lottery winner scooped a whopping £1.5million using the same number combination she's used for years.
Nancy Gardner had used the same exact number combination for years until she struck gold this October.
Nancy, from Ontario, Canada, was so shocked at the news that she thought someone was playing a prank on her.
She said: "I checked the winning numbers on OLG.ca and thought OLG was playing a prank on me – I was shaking.
"I couldn't believe it!"
Gardner said the shock of her lucrative win didn't hit her until she shared the news with her friends and family.
She said: "My niece was crying when I told her."
Gardner plans to invest her millions into a new home in Toronto, and use the money to help her relatives.
And another lottery player in Maryland scooped up £20,000 after her winning numbers came to her sister in a dream.
The winner, of Cockeysville, also plays the Pick 3 and Pick 4 games and admitted her dreams inspire the numbers that she selects.
