A woman told how she started doing cosplay on a whim – but it led her to discovering she's a real-life vampire.

Hellie, 27, from Ohio, said her life was totally different this time last year.

She was working as a social media manager – but now she spends most of her time being a vampire.

Last Halloween, Hellie had a TikTok account – but it started out as her just creating videos of her cats.

Then she decided to give cosplay a whirl, which basically involves dressing up as a character of choice, and this led to her dressing up as a vampire.

The experience opened her up to a "whole new community."

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star, she said: "I was having so much fun doing it – it's been the best.

"It was a total accident. I had always wanted to entertain people.

"I have got to meet all these people. I've discovered myself because of it."

In her own words, Hellie said cosplay "became the realisation of who she is".

It was during March this year that she realised she was a real-life vampire – even though she thinks she was in "denial" at first.

Hellie often leaves the house wearing her fangs – but she said the people in her area have welcomed her with open arms.

She said: "If I go out I usually wear my fangs. The most fun thing about it is that most people don't care.

"For someone from a small town, I'm really proud of my people, because there's no judgement."

Hellie admits when it comes to self-discovery she is "still figuring some things out".

She describes herself as being quite "complex", as she can be goofy yet serious, and do cosplay and also work as an actress.

But, when it comes to life as a vampire, it's nothing like you may picture it.

It's not about sucking blood – and it definitely isn't like it's depicted in the Twilight Saga.

Instead, Hellie said it's all about "energetic work", and how you can use energy to better your life.

"For a lot of people it's simply energetic work, and thinking that energy empowers you," she added.

    "It's how the energy works."

Hellie said all vampires differ, but there is a strong and supportive community growing on TikTok that she's proud to be a part of.

Jack Townson is one vampire who is doing a lot to educate people on social media – and she also said they all look different.

Hellie said not all vampires wear fangs – and explained there are some living vampires who would think such things are "silly".

But, the fangs are a part of who she is and she loves to wear them.

"There are people who do these things and do energy work who are police officers," she added.

"Living vampires could be the baristas making your coffee in the morning. I do cosplay and act."

When it comes to energetic work, Hellie said there are "different things you can do."

She said it's important not to steal people's energy – and she used the examples of going to a concert or a moll where there are a lot of people around.

In this sort of situation she said you're "surrounded by excess" energy, which means you aren't impacting anyone by being there.

Hellie said: "When you take that energy you're not affecting anyone around you. You can't take someone's energy without their consent."

Life has changed drastically for the influencer over the last 12 months – but she said joining TikTok was "the best decision of her life."

She admits she sometimes experiences cyber-bullying, but she also boasts over 45,000 followers on the platform, and it led her to discovering what she really is.

Reflecting on her former life, Hellie said: "I was married – we were together for eight years.

"I had realised before then I wasn't happy in the relationship, but I was putting up with it.

"I was unhappy. It allowed me to let go of the people in my life who weren't making me happy.

"Me and my husband got a divorce, and we parted on decent terms, but I now live on my own making vampire videos and I'm talking to you.

"It's so great – I have got to meet all these people. I've discovered myself because of it."
