I’m a cleaning queen – how to stop your fridge stinking using a 55p household staple | The Sun

THERE'S nothing worse than opening your fridge to be confronted with a nasty pong.

But one cleaning queen has come up with a genius, cheap way of getting rid of fridge odours – and all you need is some bicarbonate of soda.

Katie Lolas, who posts under Lady Lolas on her social media pages, explained that she pops a small bowl of bicarb in the fridge to absorb any smells.

"If your fridge has ever smelled a little funky – even after you've cleaned it out – and you haven't been able to get rid of the smell, I have just the solution," she said.

"All you have to do is put some bicarbonate soda on a plate or open in its box and place it inside your fridge.

"It will absorb all of those smells and it's super easy."

The bicarbonate of soda works as a pH neutraliser, and fights the smells – most of which are acidic in nature.

Katie added that you can leave the bowl of bicarb in the fridge for up to three months, at which point you can swap it for a new one.

But she was quick to insist that the bicarb bowl doesn't eliminate the need to clean the fridge on a weekly basis.

Following Katie sharing her tip, she was quickly praised by people in the comments section, with one writing: "I can't believe I've never thought of this.
