I'm worried my son's girlfriend is just after his trust fund | The Sun
DEAR DEIDRE: I THINK my son may have got together with a freeloader who has her eye on his trust fund.
He met this woman on holiday. I haven’t met her but my son says she’s 22 and has moved into our coastal caravan.
He cut his holiday short for a university interview but tells me he’s left her staying there.
His trust was set up by his wealthy father who died three years ago.
We divorced after he found someone else. I’m his mum and I’m 45.
He’s going to be 21 in less than a month and he’s already talking about what he’s going to spend it on.

I wish his dad had withheld the money until he was 25.
I’m so scared he’s going to be reckless or this woman will get her mitts on the cash.

DEIDRE SAYS: Talk to him about reinvesting the money or leaving it where it is for now.
His father most likely wanted him to have a nest egg for a house, or to help with his studies, so explain what his expectations would have been.
Agree on a treat or two but encourage him to make wise choices.

Is the caravan yours? If it is, tell him that you are going to spend the weekend there so the woman he met will need to leave.
If your son’s money is ring-fenced, you’ll soon know if his girlfriend is really interested in him.
