Inside Ariana Grande and husband Dalton Gomez’s relationship as pair ‘split’

It’s being reported that pop star Ariana Grande and her real estate agent husband, Dalton Gomez, have called time on their marriage after just two years.

According to TMZ, the pair have been separated since January 2023 and are now firmly on the road to divorce.

Neither Ariana, 30, nor Dalton, 27, have publicly confirmed their relationship status in response to the rumours – although she was spotted watching the Wimbledon final this weekend sans her ring.

While fans wait with gritted teeth for a statement from the star, we take a look back at their relationship.

In February 2020, Ariana was spotted kissing what was then reported as a “mystery man” at a bar in California.

The duo were out with pals at the time, but were caught cosying up in a private booth together one on one by eagle-eyed bar goers.

It wasn’t until a month later, in March 2020, that press in the US were able to track down Ariana’s so-called “mystery man”, and the couple were first linked.

Sources at the time claimed that the pair had been seeing each other since January 2020 after Dalton, who was working for real estate group Aaron Kirkman at the time, was enlisted to help Ariana buy another property.

“Ariana fell very hard for Dalton shortly after they met,” a source purporting to be close to the singer told US Weekly, before confirming that the couple were quarantined together at Ariana’s LA mansion.

In May 2020, Ariana appeared to personally confirm the relationship when she and her beau both featured in Justin Bieber’s Stuck With U music video.

The video, which featured numerous celebs quarantined, included a self shot clip of Ariana and Dalton dancing around and hugging from what looked to be one of the bedrooms in her home.

A few weeks later, the star made it really official when she posted Dalton on her Instagram, where more than 377 million fans follow her.

Switching the comments off, she included her brand new man in a series of photos for her 27th birthday.

Dalton, meanwhile, shared a selfie of the pair cuddling up and another of them – almost – kissing as he wished Ari a happy birthday.

In August 2020, for Dalton’s birthday, the couple were more open about their love than ever as Ari shared a clip of them dancing sweetly together to the classic tune of Nat King Cole’s LOVE.

Driving the message home, Ariana captioned the clip “I love u.”

Four months later in December, the pair decided their romance was forever and announced that they were engaged.

Sharing a close up shot of her ring, Ariana wrote: “forever n then some.”

In May 2021, the couple tied the knot in a secret ceremony at the pop icon’s Montecito home.

Ariana’s representative confirmed that they had made it official a few days later, saying: “They got married. It was tiny and intimate – less than 20 people. The room was so happy and full of love. The couple and both families couldn't be happier.”

Despite the low-key nature of the ceremony, Ariana did post a few sweet pics of her looking over the moon in a classic white wedding dress.

They were next spotted together in November 2021, when Ariana shared a couple of snaps from their Thanksgiving together.

Ari didn’t publicly address the relationship again for almost an entire year – but in August 2022, opted to deliver a pretty definitive message to fans.

While filming a makeup tutorial, Ariana’s ring was notably absent – but she rushed to shut down any speculation before it began: “I’m not wearing my wedding ring, it's getting cleaned. I'm not getting a divorce – so before you start, don't.”

They still looked blissfully in love in February 2023, despite TMZ now claiming they weren’t together.

Dalton shared a gushing Valentine’s Day post in which he called Ariana his “forever”, while she commented “I love you.”

In May, they even celebrated their anniversary, with Ari sharing a gorgeous black and white photograph of them kissing with the caption “love you so.”

Just two months later however, it’s being widely reported that the pair are heading for a divorce after she was spotted without her ring at a public appearance.
