Inside BBC The Traitors’ Maddy’s life off screen from acting career to boyfriend
The gripping game show The Traitors has had viewers across the nation enthralled since it debuted on BBC One almost two weeks ago. Hosted by Claudia Winkleman, the show, whose fans are convinced they 'know who wins' after plot twist, has swiftly grown to be tremendously popular among British audiences after originating in The Netherlands.
Due to the nature of the programme, a lot of the contestants are both hit and miss with viewers at home. However, one fan favourite at the moment is Maddy. Here’s what we know about her life off the show.
Maddy, 30, signed up for The Traitors due to her love of crime dramas and doesn’t want people to underestimate her. Before her time on the show, she told the BBC: "A lot of people think I'm quite ditsy and silly. I want to show people I'm more with it and not to judge me straight away."
The receptionist and actress from Kent has said if she won the show she would give a lot of the money to her mum. She told the BBC: “My mum has brought us up on her own and when we were younger, we were in a council house and I feel like I’ve owed her a lot of money over the years, so I’d love to give her some of the money. I feel like my mum's always been so selfless and I’d love to give her some back.”
Over on her Instagram Maddy frequently posts sweet snaps with her boyfriend, Tom, as well as friends and family. She also posts plenty of updates from her budding career as an actress. Earlier this year she posted clips of her acting in well-known soaps including Casualty and Eastenders, as well as a pic of her in the play The Chopper at the BFI London Film Festival.
On her Instagram, Maddy shared photos from the set of EastEnders, including one of her with the Albert Square sign and one of her in the Queen Vic pub. She appeared in multiple episodes of Eastenders in 2021 as Rita.
Maddy has been steadily gaining a number of fans as the series goes on, having guessed who the traitor is for entirely the wrong reasons. Maddy believes Wilf is a traitor, citing his reaction to voting someone in an earlier episode of the show as her reason. Although she’s actually correct, her fellow contestants are ignoring her theory and as a result, the traitor is getting away with murder.
“You’re genius and none of them are seeing it,” one person wrote on Maddy’s Instagram page.
Another person wrote: “I will literally cry if Wilf wins. I was screaming at the TV when they weren’t listening to you. Can’t wait for the next episode though! We’re all rooting for you here, Detective Maddy!!!”
While another person praised: “Love watching you on this! Was willing you to stick with your gut even when everyone was laughing etc. Always stand up for what you believe in, even if you are standing alone!”
