Inside Declan Donnelly and Ali Astall’s relationship from regal wedding to surprise arrival of son

PresenterDeclan Donnellyhas had a whirlwind few weeks after thetragic loss of his beloved brotherin July.

However, the month also saw some happiness as Declan, 46, announced that he and wife Ali Astall had welcomed theirsecond child togetherand named him Jack Anthony Alphonsus.

He took to Instagram the day after baby Jack’s arrival to share a sweet picture of the newborn holding his dad’s finger and wrote: “Shortly before 10am yesterday, 23.7.2022, Ali and I welcomed the arrival of our son, Jack Anthony Alphonsus, a very welcome ray of light.

"He is wonderful and Isla is beyond excited to be a big sister! D x".

Jack is Dec and 43 year old Ali’s second child together and they welcomed daughter Isla Elizabeth Anne Donnelly in 2018.

Ali largely keeps herself out of the spotlight, however she has been seen supporting her husband Dec on a number of showbiz occasions.

She was also born in Newcastle and is a talent manager, who has worked alongside the likes of Fearne Cotton and Holly Willoughby.

The mum of two worked as Dec’s talent manager for ten years, before the two finally made things romantic.

Dec previously told theDaily Express: “We always hung out. When she was single and I was single we'd go out for dinner on Valentine's Day together.

"Last year we went out as a couple. It was a little strange because we've had a working relationship for so long."

Ali and Dec married at St Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Newcastle on 1 August 2015 in an intimate ceremony with 200 guests.

The ceremony was conducted by his brother, Father Dermott Donnelly and best palAnt McPartlinwas the best man.

Aliannounced that she was pregnantin March 2018, and their little girl was born in September of that same year.

Dec announced the news of the birth of baby Isla on Twitter, writing: “Ali and I are thrilled to announce the arrival of our baby girl, Isla Elizabeth Anne, who was born just after 9 o’clock this morning.

He continued: “Mother and daughter both doing well, Dad is head over heels! D x.”

In Ant & Dec’s book, Once Upon a Tyne, Dec opened up about his daughter, writing: "Becoming a dad has completely transformed me. At first, like all expectant parents, I didn't truly understand how much it was going to change me.

"I just thought it was another little person coming to live in the house… It opened up a whole other side to me, a side I didn't know existed.

"I felt a love that I didn't realise it was possible to feel. Everything I do, every day, is for my daughter now."

Previously Decrevealed a secret tribute to his wifeduring a Britain’s Got Talent scene with magician Sean Heydon.

The trick saw Ant and Dec having to pull out their phones, and father-of-one Dec revealed a sweet wedding day photo as his screensaver with wife Ali as he got his phone out.
