Inside Stacey Solomons DIY wedding as she sets to marry Joe Swash
Stacey Solomon, 32, has been giving fans a glimpse of her wedding plans to actor Joe Swash, 40, as they prepare to say ‘I do’ in a romantic ceremony at their home, dubbed Pickle Cottage.
During the lockdown, the Loose Women star found creative ways to take her mind off the world by sharing DIY tips with her followers. From using tension rods in her kitchen to a beautiful handmade dreamcatcher, the mother-of-three instantly became an online sensation.
Speaking about her dream big day on Loose Women in 2016, Stacey admitted that she'd been planning her wedding since she was a child. And discussing her envisaged gown, she confessed: "I imagine myself being a Disney princess."
So it's no wonder Stacey has incorporated her love of upcycling into her wedding day.
Here, OK! takes a closer look at Stacey's incredible DIY designs specially made for her big day.
Gorgeous front door display
Stacey's stunning front door transformation is like a magical fairytale as flowers can be seen spilling out onto the pavement from the rose arch decor, and a series of white lanterns have been placed across the concrete steps. To top it off, the star sweetly hung a ‘Mr & Mrs’ sign.
Lantern design
The star took to Instagram to show how she recycled the family’s Christmas decorations for the wedding.
Stacey posted a series of videos to her Instagram story of her making “wedding lanterns” and wrote: “So I'm decorating the front door for the wedding. So I spent today changing all of my Christmas door decorations to the wedding theme.”
She began by spray painting the lanterns white and then added some greenery inside with a tall candle. Stacey said: “It’s so great what a bit of paint and some flowers can do and I'll just jazz them up again after ready for Autumn.”
Welcome mirror sign
Stacey has been using her DIY skills to upcycle and make different decorations including a stunning welcome sign, which she created out of an old mirror.
As the star began her creation she wrote: “So I’m trying to use things we already have to make bits for the wedding instead of buying new things.
“I’m making a welcome sign from our mirror & old fake flowers then I can reuse the flowers after and put the mirror back.”
The finished look features white flowers with the words 'Welcome to the wedding of Stacey & Joe' printed across it and 'FOREVER' written at the bottom.
Tea wall
Stacey took to her Instagram Stories to share a series of clips of her busy at work in the garden as she set out to create a tea wall. She explained how the project had "taken all day".
"If you're having an event save any old pallets that get delivered. I used scrap wood to Barton these two pallets together. Then sanded them down," the star revealed.
She could be seen attaching them together before lifting up the two pallets so that they balanced against a nearby tree, enabling her to begin her creation.
Stacey had asked her followers for tea-related quotes the day before she started her project, and had finally decided on one that her close pal Charlotte Greedy had suggested.
'Our love is like a cup of tea, a special blend of you and me' can be seen written across the board, along with 'Let's get this par-tea started'.
Globe guest book
Stacey's creative flare doesn't stop there as she also pulled together a very unique guest book.
Unlike the customary guest book found at a wedding, the DIY genius created one out of her sons’ old unused globe.
Stacey explained: “I've seen so many people make cute guest books out of globes. I'm going to attempt to make one for our wedding.
“I've stolen the boys' globe. They don't need it right now. As soon as we're allowed to venture out of the house I'll buy them another one."
Stacey continued: “I actually feel really teary it's so ridiculous …. But I love it so much. I need a bigger pot for my gold pens, and I may dab some glitter around the line, but for some reason I quite like the equator line.
"Knowing one day it will have special messages on it just makes my heart full wish I'd took a before picture."
Why Stacey chose DIY for her big day
A source told OK! that crafting queen Stacey wants to make sure her stamp is felt throughout the nuptials, and that she has been working all hours to achieve this.
The source said: "Stacey is putting pressure on herself but she is loving putting everything together for this wedding that she can.
"It's a passion project for her as well as a wedding, but her friends are trying to remind her that she's only one person and she needs to lean on other people sometimes.
"She wants this wedding to be perfect for her and Joe but is trying to do all of the preparations on top of working and looking after the kids."
"She is very hands-on and wants it all to go her way," they added.
