The owner of a Birmingham restaurant has blasted a diner who left a savage one-star Google review saying they felt ‘ripped off’ – telling them to ‘come and get [their] money back’.
According to the reviewer, her meal at Fogo Bar & Kitchen in Birmingham was ‘tasteful’, but she said they felt ripped off despite the restaurant enjoying an average 4.7 stars.
The one-star review, which complained that the meal was too expensive, also said the food could be cooked at home.
Writing up her thoughts, the reviewer said: ‘Overexpensive. I felt ripped off. I wouldn’t go back no matter how tasteful the food was. £80 for a wine and two courses that I could have prepared myself at home (spaghetti).’

However, the restaurant’s owner did not take the criticism lying down, and blasted the reviewer in a scathing response.
They wrote: ‘First of all you can make any food at home if you want to dine at home but you chose to dine out for a reason.
‘We pride ourselves for providing high quality ingredients and our prices totally justified with our food quality.
‘Also we have price on our menu and you could prepare yourself before you order. You had 2 main, starter and a bottle of wine which was £32.95 came to total of £80 which is an average price for eating for 2 in any restaurant.
While the reviewer acknowledged that the food they were served was ‘tasteful’, they branded the £80 meal a rip off
However, the restauranteur did not take the criticism lying down, and hit out at the reviewer, describing the price of the meal as average
‘As you said the food was tasty and I really don’t understand how you chose to give us 1 star rating because of your own choices.
‘If you think you have been ripped off come back and get your money back because that’s not what we are about.’
Despite the poor write-up, the eatery enjoys a 4.7 star rating on Google, where it has 272 reviews, including many giving it five-stars.
