Ive shrunk my waist to 11.8 inches – people dont even believe Im real
One woman’s passion for tight-laced corsets left her with a waist that's only slightly wider than a can of fizzy drink.
Dating back to the 16th century, corsets were initially designed to support a woman's torso and provide a smooth silhouette.
However, over time, the practice of tight-laced corseting led to some jaw-dropping results – like Ruth Lujan waist of a mere 30cm (11.8 inches).

This Mexican ballet dancer, stunt artist and underwater 'mermaid' performer, dedicated her life to tight-laced corseting, transforming her waist from 40cm to her tiny proportions today.
The 24-year-old’s corseting journey began five years ago when she was diagnosed with Hyperlaxity Syndrome, a rare condition that affects muscles and ligaments. Her doctor recommended wearing a corset to help alleviate her symptoms.
"I realised something was wrong with my movement while I was doing a ballet class," she told news service Cover Real Life.
"When I heard I had Hyperlaxity, it really shocked me, and I felt so sad.
"The condition meant I'd never wear ballet shoes again."
But instead of letting her condition define her, she turned to tight-laced corseting as a way to not only alleviate her symptoms but also to transform her waist.
Initially, Ruth tried to hide her corsets under her clothing, but soon realised she loved how the tight-fitting undergarment made her look and feel.
"Who doesn't want a really small waist – like a mermaid?" she gushed.
And so, Ruth began posting her corseting journey on TikTok and Instagram, where she quickly gained a massive following. People were amazed by her tiny waist and her dedication to the practice.
Ruth's corseting journey hasn't always been easy, though. She faced criticism and judgment from those who don't understand the practice.
"People think my look is extreme. They think I'm not real – that I'm a robot," Ruth said. "But I don’t let the negativity bring me down. In fact, I use it as motivation to continue doing what I love.”
For Ruth, corseting isn't just about the physical transformation – it's about the mental transformation as well.
"The practice has given me more confidence and self-love," she said.
"I feel empowered by my ability to shape my body the way I want to, and I'm proud of the way I look."
Ruth also notes that the corset helps her with her posture and gives her more support, which has been beneficial for her Hyperlaxity Syndrome.
Her dedication to tight-laced corseting has led her to some unique experiences along the way, including being featured on the TV show Hooked on the Look.
During the episode, Ruth shared her story and showed off her tiny waist. She even demonstrated how she laces up her corset, which involves pulling the strings tight and tying them in a knot.
"It's like my own little secret superpower," she joked.
