Five might seem quite young for a girl to play a game associated with muscle-bound giants.
But with an England Rugby hero as a father and an Olympic horsewoman mother, it’s only to be expected that Lena and her sister Mia have taken up the oval ball with gusto.
They might even have a game today, Lena’s birthday as there’s a distinct shortage of mud in the current heatwave.
‘I’ve found with the girls, that battle to still go and get muddy is still a battle, their father Mike told The One Show.

Lena was born June 18 2019 at the Stroud Maternity Unit in Gloucestershire, weighing 9lbs 3oz
‘Once they are there, they’re okay.’
Tindal 44, explained that Lena, his youngest daughter, plays rugby with their local under sixes.
‘It’s always hard through winter when it’s cold to get them out the door. They love it when they get there but every rugby parent will know that battle.
Tindall, who played for Bath and Gloucester, won 75 caps for England between 2000 and 2011 – and was a member of the England squad which won the world cup in 2003.
Lena, Zara and Mike Tindall’s middle child and second daughter was born June 18, 2019, at the Stroud Maternity Unit in Gloucestershire, weighing 9lbs 3oz.
She is currently 23rd in line to the British throne, behind her sister Mia and ahead of her brother Lucas in the official line of succession.
However the children of the daughter of a monarch do not get titles.
In an official announcement, Buckingham Palace said: ‘Mrs Michael Tindall was safely delivered of a baby girl on 18th June, at Stroud Maternity Unit.
‘Mr Tindall was present at the birth. The weight of the baby was 9lbs 3oz.
‘The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Princess Royal, Captain Mark Phillips and Mike’s parents, Mr Philip and Mrs Linda Tindall, have been informed and are delighted with the news. The baby’s name will be confirmed in due course.

‘This baby is the second child for Zara and Mike, the fourth grandchild for The Princess Royal and the seventh great-grandchild for The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh.’
Just over a week after her birth, a family spokesperson finally revealed her name: Lena Elizabeth Tindall.
While an unconventional choice for a member of the Royal Family, Lena is loosely connected to another royal, Princess Helena, the fifth child of Queen Victoria.
Her middle name pays tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II, her great grandmother.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attended Lena’s christening at St Nicholas Church in Cherington, Gloucestershire in March 2019. It was also reported that the Duke of Sussex was chosen as the young royal’s godfather.
Lena made her first official appearance with the British royal family during the Platinum Jubilee in 2022, where she joined her older sister and many of her royal cousins at the Platinum Jubilee Pageant in the royal box.
