Lisa Marie Presleys four husbands explained including Michael Jackson and Nicolas Cage
Lisa Marie Presley passed away on 12 January 2023 in California after suffering a cardiac arrest, her mother Priscilla has announced in a heartbreaking statement.
The 54 year old was the only daughter of Priscilla, 77, and her late husband, music icon Elvis Presley, who passed away in 1977 at the age of 42.
Lisa is survived by her three daughters, Riley, 33, who she shares with first husband Danny Keough, and twins Finley Aaron and Harper Vivienne Ann, 14, who she welcomed with third husband Michael Lockwood in 2008.
The singer tied the knot four times and was once married to pop icon Michael Jackson.
Here, we take a look back at Lisa Marie's four marriages…
Danny Keough
Lisa married her first husband, Chicago-born musician Danny Keough in October 1988, when she was 20 years old.
The couple's first child, a daughter named Riley, was born in May 1989, followed by a son, Benjamin Storm Keough, in October 1992. In July 2020, Benjamin took his own life at 27 years old.
In May 1994, Lisa divorced Danny in the Dominican Republic after seeking a 'quickie divorce' from the musician.
Despite the end of their romantic relationship, Lisa and Danny remained extremely close and in 2005 he was even the bass guitar player in her band and acted as her musical mentor. Danny also lived in the guest house on Lisa's property.
In a 2003 interview with Rolling Stone, Lisa opened up about her relationship with ex-husband Danny, saying: "He’s my absolute best friend in the world.
"The smartest thing I’ve ever done is have children with this man, because I knew this is the one man I could be connected to for the rest of my life.”
Michael Jackson
Just 20 days after her divorce from Danny was finalised, Lisa wed pop icon Michael Jackson in a secret ceremony in the Dominican Republic.
In a statement at the time, Lisa said: “I am very much in love with Michael, I dedicate my life to being his wife. I understand and support him. We both look forward to raising a family.”
The famous pair's marriage lasted just two years, with Lisa filing for divorce in 1996 citing irreconcilable differences.
In a 2007 interview with Marie Claire, she admitted: “My biggest mistake? Let’s see.
"How can I word this? Um. Well. Leaving my first marriage, for the person that I left it for — that was probably the biggest mistake of my life.”
Michael passed away in 2009 and Lisa penned a touching blog post where she opened up about their relationship, saying it was real and “not a sham", and stated that she "failed to help" the pop star through his substance abuse issues.
In the post, she wrote: "I wanted to save him from the inevitable which is what has just happened. His family and his loved ones also wanted to save him from this as well but didn’t know how and this was 14 years ago. We all worried that this would be the outcome then."
Nicolas Cage
In August 2002, Lisa tied the knot with famous actor Nicolas Cage, but the pair's relationship was short-lived.
Lisa first met Nicolas, 59, at a party and she then broke off her engagement to musician John Oszajca, who proposed to her in 1999. Nicolas was married to Patricia Arquette at the time.
The couple's romance lasted four months and in November 2002 Nicolas filed for divorce. The divorce was eventually finalised in 2004.
Michael Lockwood
Lisa got hitched for a fourth time in January 2006 to guitarist and producer Michael Lockwood.
Lisa and Michael, 61, tied the knot in Japan, and Lisa's first husband Danny was best man at their wedding.
Two years after their wedding, Lisa announced she was pregnant and in October 2008 she gave birth to fraternal twin girls – Harper Vivienne Ann Lockwood and Finley Aaron Love Lockwood – in California via C-section.
She was married to Michael for 10 years, with the couple living in East Sussex in the UK from 2010 until their split 2016. Lisa and Michael's divorce was finalised in 2021.
