Madonnas surgery explained after her unrecognisable Grammys look

Pop icon Madonna shocked fans on Sunday when she appeared at the 2023 Grammy Awards sporting a "new face", adding to speculation that she has undergone cosmetic surgery.

The singer, 64, looked almost unrecognisable at the annual awards ceremony on 5 February with viewers taking to social media to speculate about procedures she may have had done.

Now, Dr. Michael Horn, a board certified plastic surgeon from Chicago has weighed in on the debate, revealing he believes Madonna has most likely had work done on her face over recent years.

Speaking to DailyMail.com, the surgeon outlined the different procedures he believes the singer has undergone, including a facelift and nose job.

"Over the years, Madonna, has seemingly undergone numerous plastic surgery procedures," he told the publication.

Revealing why he thinks she's had a facelift, Michael explained: "This is obvious because her skin is tight and pulled back with no wrinkles. Her eyes also seem smaller, likely due to being pulled during a facelift."

The surgeon went on to say that "botox was also evident" on many areas of Madonna's face as she lacked "expression lines and wrinkles" and pointed out the "minimal facial movement" during her speech at the Grammys.

The shape of the 64 year old's face has also drastically changed. Dr Horn added: "What is most noticeable and striking is the drastic change in Madonna’s facial shape into a more V-shaped structure."

According to the cosmetic surgeon, Madonna appears to have used "excessive" amounts of filler over time, prompting her natural face shape to disappear and cause her cheekbones to become "more prominent" and "appear unnaturally high".

The singer is also sporting much thinner eyebrows than usual, which may be as a result of a brow lift.

Madonna's "new look" at the Grammy Awards caused a huge reaction from viewers on social media, with many taking to Twitter to share their thoughts.

One person wrote: "Whaaaaaat happened to Madonna’s face?! #GRAMMYs." Another said: "Has Madonna been nominated for ‘Best New Face’ at this year’s Grammy Awards?”

A third shared: "Me attempting to ignore the fact that Madonna has a whole new face. #GRAMMYs."
