Major update on Greggs shops opening 24-hours – is one coming near you? | The Sun
GREGGS has issued a major update on plans for new 24-hour shops.
The popular bakery chain has revealed plans to keep two of its branches open at all hours of the day.
It has applied for the special licenses for both its Canterbury shop and another in the centre of Liverpool.
If accepted by the local councils the locations would be the first to be open for 24-hours.
The Liverpool site is located in Lord Street and the chain has requested a premises licence which would allow it to sell food and drink from 11pm to 5am.
Greggs has also submitted an application to serve its popular sausage rolls and steak bakes at all hours at its site down the road from Canterbury Cathedral.

It is understood that this application is for a takeaway service only and customers won't be able to dine-in over night.
Currently, the latest closing time for a Greggs in the UK is its Leicester Square branch in London which shuts at 2am on Thursday and Friday.
The chain had hoped its city centre branch would be its first 24-hour store but the bid was snubbed by council bosses.
Greggs has already extended opening hours for around 500 shops to 8pm or later.

There are currently 17 drive-thru locations across the country and it's planning to open as many as 10 more this year alone.
Drive-thrus usually open around 6am and close around 9-10pm.
Customers can pick up the usual sausage rolls, doughnuts and more from the comfort of their car.
Greggs currently has more than 2,300 shops across the country.
Last month, Greggs boss has said the chain is on track with plans to open 150 new shops across the country this year.
Branches are also still being opened inside other big name stores including Primark and Tesco.
The chain has opened up four Tasty by Greggs cafes inside large Primark shops over the past few months.
Meanwhile, it has rolled out more concession cafes to 28 Tesco stores across the UK so far.
The news comes after Greggs rival and the UK's second biggest chain Cooplands has closed nine shops recently.
