Much-loved Neighbours couple reuniting as Elly Conway returns

Chelly fans, rejoice! Neighbours has confirmed that Jodi Gordon will be reprising her role as Elly Conway in the upcoming revival series, and our hearts couldn’t be any fuller.

Elly will return to Ramsay Street when Neighbours makes its highly-anticipated comeback on Amazon Freevee later this year, with the soap’s official social media account confirming the good news.

‘We’re absolutely thrilled that Jodi Gordon will soon be back on set to reprise her role as Elly Conway,’ read the tweet. ‘This officially means that #Chelly will be reunited on screen in all new episodes of #Neighbours later this year… get excited!’

Chelly is a portmanteau word created by fans of the relationship between Chloe Brennan (April Rose Pengilly) and Elly Conway, blending the two character’s first names together.

April, who played Chloe for much of the show’s last few years on air, will return to Neighbours in a recurring capacity. Since news of her comeback was annouced, fans had been holding out hope of seeing Elly back in Erinsborough so that Chelly’s love story may continue.

‘There are conversations happening, I say that with a big smile on my face,’ Jodi previously told Studio 10 presenters Angela Bishop, Tristan MacManus and Narelda Jacobs in February.

Elly, who was a main character between 2016 and 2020, staged a comeback for Channel 5’s last episode of the show, reuniting with old flame and soulmate Chloe.

Confirmation of Elly’s comeback, as expected, is going down a storm on social media.

Neighbours, as fans will recall, was controversially axed by Channel 5 last year with the broadcaster citing a desire to make ‘original UK drama’ as the reason why.
