Real Rapunzel has 4.5ft locks pulled in public as people think hair is fake

A woman with 4.5ft long hair revealed how she wasn't allowed to grow her locks as a child.

Mahsa Mahi became jealous of her sister's long locks as a kid, especially when her mum would cut her hair to her ears.

The 32-year-old was always made to keep her hair short as a youngster.

But when she turned 22, the graphic designer, from Iran, decided enough was enough – so she ditched the scissors.

She craved to have long hair like her big sister Shiva she would tie a black scarf around her head and braid it.

Once she became an adult, Mahsa took control and hasn't had a hair cut in 10 years.

Every two or three months, she'll trim 2cm of hair just to keep it healthy.

And as she stands at 5ft 1in, her hair is 4.5ft long, meaning soon it'll touch the ground.

Mahsa feels like her hair is her superpower and cares for it an hour every day.

She said: "One of the things that can be very important for having Rapunzel-like hair is using suitable hair products.

"Organic products are one of the things that I always use.

"Rosemary herb and therapy oil are some of the main products that I use for growth.

"It been 10 years since the last time I went to a hairdresser and had a hair cut."

Talking about the procedure she follows to keep her hair healthy, Mahsa told how she washes it three times a week.

She always wears a hair mask while in the shower and allows it to dry naturally where she avoids a blow dryer.

After showering, she'll use Argan oil or serum to prevent her hair from getting dehydrated.

Once a week, she treats her hair with coconut oil or rosemary oil therapy.

With this whole process, it can take almost an hour of Mahsa's time.

Others who want to grow their hair long, the real-life Rapunzel claimed it's all about patience.

She added: "Never ever wash your hair with hot water.

"And last but not least, love your hair in any style or colour it is naturally and don't try to change it as much as possible.

"Having long hair, although it can be beautiful, has its challenges.

"For example, it can get tangled when sleeping, and it takes time and effort to brush and style it.

"Sometimes, when I'm walking on the street, it gets caught in bushes, branches, or door handles.

"Sometimes people don't believe it's my own hair and come from behind to pull it just to make sure that it's natural."

But Mahsa has received some mixed reviews on her hair.

She admitted: "People have different opinions when they see my hair.

"The most hurtful comment I received was that this amount of hair is very gross and not beautiful at all.

"Sometimes I see little girls get excited when they see my hair, or even older people come and touch my hair.

"It's surprising to say my family is not happy with my long hair and they always tell me to cut it short.

"That's why I always tie my hair up inside the house."

Despite the hate, Mahsa believes having long hair is important to her as it gives her a "supernatural power".

"I have something that is not like everyone else, and it has made me unique," she concluded.

“Maybe that's why when I hear negative comments about my hair, but it motivates me to make it longer."
