Real vampire who preferred blood to sex changed’ after cutting boyfriend

It has been six years since a real-life vampire was filmed drinking blood from her boyfriend's wrist seconds after slicing his skin with a razor blade.

Fanged fetish model Lea Van Doorn was being interviewed on camera and she uttered the words that were published around the world.

She said: “I actually prefer drinking blood to having sex. You are taking the essence of a person and that to me is ecstasy. There is no better feeling.”

That statement back in 2017 has haunted her ever since – and she’s had enough.

It damaged her relationships with loved ones and she is now aware of the dangers associated with feeding on blood.

Her life is now much different and she is no longer in a relationship with Tim Doyal, who she had been planning to marry in a vampire themed wedding ceremony.

Speaking to Daily Star about the backlash, the former blood sucker, who was 20 at the time, said: “I am no longer with that man, no longer in touch with him or any vampire community.

“I am a completely changed person.”

Asked if she regretted saying those things, she replied: “Yes very much, my family lost their minds about it and I do not want my future marred by it any more.”

And questioned on whether she still feeds on blood, she said: “I don’t because it’s unsanitary and potentially incredibly dangerous.

She added: “It was quite a stupid thing to do and get photographed. [But] I do use it sometimes in magical practices.”

And although she is no longer in contact with the vampire community, she said: “I still use my wardrobe to express myself.”

Lea, from Austin, Texas, now describes herself as a model, sculptor, classic dancer, performer and “one strong woman”.

She met tarot-reader Tim, who was 11 years older than her, at a vampire festival.

They called themselves Countless Lea and Count Tim of House Van Doorn.

And they gained notoriety in 2017 by declaring they used razor blades or syringes to draw blood before either downing it from goblets or gulping it from the wound itself.

Tim, who described feeling “more empowered and awake” at night time, said at the time: “When I feed via blood it is just as good as sex because as I feel this rush of life, their essence, their energy is coming into myself and I am taking it in and I feel empowered.”

And describing what it was like for her, Lea said: “It is like the best chocolate in the world you can imagine and someone just gave it to you for free.

“I feel stronger, I feel more energised, I feel more awake.”

And armed with the blade, she told the camera moments before making the incision on Tim’s arm: “I have to kind of control myself because I get very hungry.”

As for her relationship with natural light, she added: “I am hypersensitive to sunlight.

“I get intense migraines. Even if it is cloudy, I will wear sunglasses outside. I have a carousel that I carry and that is why I am white as a ghost because I just don’t like the sun.”

Lea now regrets her blood sucking comments that day and hopes to finally be able to move on from it all these years later.
