Royal fans have called for the King’s ‘hot equerry’ Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Thompson to be the next 007.
The King’s handsome equerry first won over admirers at the Queen’s funeral, gaining a legion of fans thanks to his brooding good looks.
A TikTok page responded to a comment which said: ‘The next James Bond’ as they made a short video of him.
One of those included Lt Col Jonathan Thompson looking dapper in a suit as he entered Buckingham Palace in London.
Other snippets were of the King’s equerry performing his royal duties as he walked in formation, ushered people into a car and stood in his uniform.
A TikTok page responded to a comment which said: ‘The next James Bond’ as they made a short video of Lt Col Jonathan Thompson. One of the videos showed him looking dapper in a suit as he entered royal grounds
The caption read: ‘I think he looks great both in a kilt and in a suit,’ followed by a star emoji.
Once the Queen’s most senior bodyguards, he now serves His Majesty and was seen proudly standing next to King Charles’ side during the Coronation, so it’s perhaps no surprise he’s made third place on Tatler’s Social Power Index, which details where the ‘real power lies in Britain’.
Outside of his royal duties Lt Col Jonathan Thompson of the 5th Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland lives in Surrey and is a father-of-one and loving husband to his marketing manager wife Caroline, 44.
The devoted couple have been happily married since 2010 and welcomed their son in 2018. They also have two black Labradors called Odin and Piper – a nod to his military time in Scotland.
And now the kilt-clad Army officer, 39, known to friends as ‘Johnny’ but dubbed on TikTok as ‘Major Eye Candy’ can add another accomplishment to his resume, having made it on to the prestigious list.
People took to the comments on the video to agree, with one writing: ‘Yes, the true James Bond, of his KING!!!!’
Another penned: ‘He can’t be the next Bond, he is already a real life one.’
A third said: ‘Oh my god this gorgeous man looks good in anything, what a handsome man.’
A fourth commented: ‘I feel for Mrs. Thompson. I’m not sure how I’d handle my husband becoming a global eye candy.’

Tatler says Lt Col Thompson looks as good in a suit as he does in a kilt. The father-of-one set Twitter alight as fans tweeted about his ‘thick calves’
Fans took to the comments on the TikTok to shower him with compliments, with some saying he is the true James Bond
Just behind King Charles III and Queen Camila (at number one, natch), and billionaire businessman Sanjay and his fashion designer wife Anu Hinduja (at number two), the dashing equerry has cemented himself as one of the influential names to know in the UK.
According to Tatler, Johnny has a ‘fabulous sense of humour’ and has the ability to looks as good in a suit as he does a kilt.
The wrote: ‘It is from within the palace walls that the King’s equerry wields his unique brand of quiet, charming power; but he’s spotted where it counts, at the coronation, or on the opening night of the Berntson Bhattacharjee Gallery in Fitzrovia, for example, to which he wore a bunny tie and charmed India Rose James.’
During May’s Coronation of King Charles, viewers rushed to social media to discuss not just the crowning of the monarch but the very handsome man by his side.
‘Must admit there were times when I was a bit distracted today,’ one tweeted.
‘Major Jonathan Thompson is why we watch the coronation,’ another added. ‘Look at his beauty and his thick calves too.’
Other admirers also couldn’t help but point out the army officer’s striking good looks as another fan wrote: ‘Anyone else clocked the dashing chap in the kilt?’

Lt Col Thompson is so handsome that some admirers even became a little territorial and warned others to keep their ‘hands off’.

The officer became an object of royal watchers’ affections last year after he was thrust front-and-centre at historic Royal events following the Queen’s death.
He was caught on camera calmly and coolly removing a pen tray which was cluttering the King’s desk, as Charles signed the Proclamation which named him as the new monarch.
He was also seen in the procession when the Queen’s coffin was escorted from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall for the four days of lying in state.
He greeted Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky during his trip to the UK back in February and escorted then-Prime Minister Liz Truss to meet the King at Buckingham Palace in October 2022.
He was also spotted standing behind Harry and Meghan at the Platinum Jubilee celebration National Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral last June.

He joined the Army in 2006 and is a Platoon commander, according to his LinkedIn. He is believed to have been working as an equerry with Charles for at least the last two years.
His profile also reveals how he attended Aberystwyth University where he graduated in 2004 with a degree in Economics and politics with international studies and he gave his hobbies and interests as rugby and mountaineering and he was also a member of the undergraduate officer training corps.
